Dometic digital Thermostat
I got my build sheet back from Kim, and am starting to work through various options. I asked about a digital thermostat that would control both the ac and the furnace, and found out is is $150.00 I assume it is the Dometic Digital Thermostat. Does anyone have any experience with these, and if so, would appreciate your thoughts. Does it make a difference in how the AC runs -- probably worth it if the AC can run quieter. When I upgraded the thermostat on The Lark, it was about a $25 or $30 upgrade. Is there any advantage to using the domestic thermostat as compared to something like this?

Yes, I have had it in both my Escapes, it keeps the temperature swing to a minimal and is adjustable. Highly recommend it. The mod's done with digital house thermostats can be done, not sure if they are as good as ones made for the RV. Maybe $75/ difference in cost plus labor. Also the factory install handles both the a/c and heat, the ones you do your self will just do the heat as the ceiling control handles the a/c if you do not get the "package" deal with ETI.

As long as the control wires are run down from the A/C location to where the thermostat will be, that Honeywell stat will work just fine. What Jim is alluding to, if you don't buy the dual stat from Escape, then there will be no wires run to the stat location from the A/C for you to retrofit later. Perhaps though, you could ask them to run the wires for you, but by the time you do that, plus put in your own time, like Jim I would just get the Dometic stat option.

Hello,
We are due to finalize the build sheet for our May 27 21' by March 15. I don't see the dual control domestic thermostat listed. If I want this added, do I need to purchase it and ship it up there or is this offered by Escape?
Thanks !

I suppose running these wires after the fact would be quite difficult. I don't think they offered the dual stat when we ordered last year or at least we didn't know about it.

It is more than just wires, the a/c is different in that it has no controls on it whereas if you did not get the digital option, then your a/c would have it's own thermostat and on/off controls. Entirely different set up than the conventional a/c.

Thanks Jim. I wish ETi would list these options on their site?

Hi John
I don't think a lot over these things are options, more like things people have asked for and Reace has been able to accommodate them.
