Escape 19 build sheet - version 1

This is our first attempt at tackling the build sheet trying to get it down to the options that we really want in our trailer. There will be some tweaks here and there but the foundation is laid. Feeling good about our choices.

Escape 19 Build sheet:

6cu ft Fridge
External Fridge Fan
Winterizing T-valve
Exterior Shower (Drivers side)
Exterior 12v outlet by by the 120v outlet
Dual 6v batteries
160w solar panel with charge controller
Surge protector
Removable power cord
Additional Exterior LED light (over front storage box)
Captains LED reading lamps ( bed pass side)
Air conditioner with digital thermostat
Extra insulation & frameless thermal windows
Opening window in kitchen and bath (frameless thermal)
5 aluminum rims
Cabinet Door at end of Bench
Drawer Under Wardrobe Closet
2-Shelves in Wardrobe Closet
Exterior Propane Quick Connect with 12' Propane Hose and Adapter
Spray Foam Insulation for Under Trailer
Storage Box
Trim Color - Black
Custom Fabric , keep standard floor and countertop
Rhino Sewer Tube Kit
Sand Pads
Starter kit with X-Chocks
Step Cover
Water Filter
Wireless Fridge Temp gauge

If we change anything (cost savings) it would probably be one of these options:
6.0 fridge (double doors are nice);
propane quick connect (alternatives ??) and/or
the removable power cord.

All thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

Looks good Mike. Question about the winterizing T-valve though: if you intend to store the trailer in the Houston area, that's not necessary nor is winterizing the trailer. Just blow out the lines and you're done.

Even in Maine, the last few season's we had the Casita I just blew the lines out, no pink stuff at all. And no problems. Of course, I could have just been plain lucky, so feel free not to do as I did!!

Cost savings: I would delete the removable power cord. Quick connect propane is so handy, and the bigger fridge you can't change down the road.

Know that the external propane option is low pressure. If you are planning on hooking it up to a BBQ grill, it will not be nearly as hot as the same grill attached to a high pressure tank. Can't sear a steak, only bake it. YMMV

I converted my Weber Q grill to low pressure. It runs much better on the quick connect than when it was HP connected directly to a tank. Also purchased the Camp Chef Ranger II stove which is set for low pressure QC and it's one of the best camp stoves I've ever used. Also converted the firepit to low pressure and it also runs better on the QC.

Interesting. I have the Dickinson Spitfire. When I use a free-standing HP bottle, I can smelt iron ore. With low pressure, it's a very hot toaster oven.

is there a reason you don't want the 2 way hot water tank? If you don't have electric how do you heat your water without the propane option.

Our Campchef Yukon does a great job as well. No adjustment needed.

Greg how did you do all that? i have quick connect but have been unsuccessful adapting any of those items. i know others have posted on this every time i think i understand it i don't get it right! i have the campfire it hooks to a med size propane tank so i thought it was low pressure set up and would work but i don't know how to hook it to the quick connect. Also have a campfire stove but its high pressure also my Weber grill is high pressure.

Rich,
You have to get the regulator removed on a grill to use it low pressure properly. Some grills can convert, others can't. I'm not sure if the Spitfire is one that can be converted to low pressure, but someone may know on here.

This is incorrect.

The external propane option is low pressure because it has already been regulated through the regulators on the two propane tanks on your Escape. Thus, when you connect a BBQ to the quick connect, it needs to be a BBQ without a regulator. Heat will be same as if a BBQ with regulator is attached directly to a propane tank.

The winterizing t valve allows one man winterization with fluid in all lines, eliminates any possibility of water freezing and causing issues. The stock sewer tube will hold the Rhino hose. The front light over the box can easily be done with a led mounted on the box since the batteries are inside the box and accessible. Two way water heater is a luxury as is propane hookup. The stock sized refer is adequate. Rest are all necessary items, IMHO.

Dickinson Marine sells an orifice with a slightly larger hole. That's the one you need. Once I replaced mine (not easy because you have to take the housing apart, but not a big deal as long as you keep track of the small screws and washers) it worked much better - even sears steaks now.

I'm sure Rich has removed the stock regulator on the Dickinson and replaced it with the low pressure one - also sold by Dickinson.

There is a low-pressure regulator available from Dickinson if you want to use quick-connect.

It can and is converted. I have two different regulators. One high one low.

If you don't have "shore power" (a power outlet to plug the trailer into), then you use propane. The water heater is standard equipment, and runs on propane. The "propane quick connect" feature which could be deleted is just an outlet to run outside appliances (such as a grill, stove, or fire bowl); without it, the trailer still has a complete propane system.

The standard water heater has propane (if that is not what you think). With the 2-way, you also have electric to be able to plug in at campgrund pedestals.

We run our WeberQ1000 off the quick connect and it works awesome. You remove the regulator that is attached to it and install the fittings needed to connect to the low pressure hose that connects to the propane quick connect on the trailer.

Thanks I had it backwards, electric add propane to make it 2 way. I should have read the build sheet closer, it says exactly what you stated
