Whoa!! Mary, that is some kind of fabric. Hope I can see it some day.

The nonU table is big and heavy but if you expect company much of the time and do not want to be outside, then you probably need it.

With the U dinette, one can sit with back against cushions on the side and put legs up across that extra U area. In the 19' that can be done without a U, putting legs up facing toward doorway with legs off of bench somewhat. Can't do that with a 21' because the benches are up against walls on both sides so that does not work very well.

The oven, if you are big bakers, but otherwise don't know. It is more weight not to mention the cost.

If window up front, you lose the overhead shelf which is no doubt very handy.

The 21' we saw had cubbies above the bed instead of the shelf. Looks very nice and handy.$200.

I have to look at Seagrass Strand. I am betting that it will look great.

Loren, the main drawback to the u-shaped dinette is the table is smaller. It's still plenty big for 2 people, IMHO, unless you want to work a jigsaw puzzle. (just kidding) It's such a nice option, I'm inclined to go for it. But my husband likes the full size table, and he doesn't think anyone would ever really sit on the back bench, so why get it. I think visually it's very inviting. Of course a few people just have the u-shaped seating without a table... or with stooge tables mounted on one or both side(s).

For what it's worth, I didn't get enough fabric to do the u-shape, so we're definitely going with the standard benches.

Also, I've seen a standard dinette with the smaller table, a la the u-shaped dinette. I liked it, too...

And, you probably already know that the standard dinette table moves side to side, to facilitate getting in and out of the dinette "booth." The table in the u-shaped dinette moves fore and aft, which makes sense since you'd be, theoretically, having a third person sit at the back.

Cathy - Check out Chris R's pics of the mods to his 5.0 TA. He's using the Seagrass Strand formica, too.

Not unless you specify which way it should slide. We got the u-shaped dinette and assumed the table would slide front to back. Not so. It slides side to side. I was told by Escape that you have to specify a front to back slide, and I wasn't very happy about the surprise. It was the first mod I did. Luckily, had a drill and some Robertson bits handy.

You say you have to specify side to side. Do you mean front to back? You did not specify, right? The ones we know of go front to back. I thought that was standard but maybe not.

Yeah, I meant you have to specify front to back. Corrected my post. Thanks.

Glad you mentioned this because we will specify front to back. That is what we saw and I thought that was standard.

Yeah, every bit of info I had said it would slide front to back. Thought that all u-shaped dinettes had that. My next mod will be to replace the two poles with a gas operated telescoping single pole. Gonna wait until we install Allure flooring though. That way we can cover up the mounting holes from the original pole bases.

Hmmm. Interesting. Actually, what I was told didn't come from anyone at Escape; it was from folks who had their tables that way. Proof that everything needs to be double checked with your ETI representative(s)...
