Foot flush toilet drawbacks

A friend says they converted to foot flush toilets because their younger kids could operate them much easier than the hand flush.

This advice sounds good to me, to get a foot flush toilet for my younger kid. But since I don`t know a thing about trailers, I don`t know if there are any drawbacks to a foot flush toilet to consider. Does it make a difference if it`s in a wet bath, etc..

Thanks for any opinions. J

I briefly considered a foot operated flush version when I ordered my 19 then I realized that RV toilets also come in two heights. Our escapes use the short one sitting on top of the black water tank rise at the rear of the bathroom. That puts the foot operating lever about 6 inches above the floor level. I'm not a kid and not as good/steady on my feet as a kid. I would find it uncomfortable standing fixed on one foot and raising my other toe that high to accurately hit a flush valve.. especially if I've been enjoying beverages the kids can't have ;-)

I agree with you Robert, it is easier to accidentally exert too much pressure and push too hard with your foot than with your hand. I'm sticking with the hand, besides it will remind you to wash your hands afterwards, vs your feet……..

See http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f8...nges-2641.html for a discussion of this.

Casitas have used foot flush for years - set up very much like Escape. We prefer foot flush to reaching around the toilet AND I am sure because we had a Casita for 8 years. You can operate the "foot" flush lever with your hand.

We have a foot flush toilet on the option sheet for our 19.

Why get the foot model and use your hand?

We ordered the foot pedal. We had it in the airstream, although the toilet wasn't raised above the level of the floor. We think it will work fine.

Had the foot flush in the Casita, have the hand flush in the Escape. I like the foot flush better.

Why do you like foot flush better? I suppose the pedal being elevated the 6" or whatever doesn't bug you at all? j

Don't have to bend over the toilet to flush it.
