Yes, I called several of my cc and most want to charge a 3% fee, MasterCard however, effective today, no longer charges a foreign transaction fee.

I got a Capital One MasterCard years ago specifically because they didn't charge a foreign transaction fee. Credit cards also are required to give the official exchange rate at the time of the transaction.
This thread needs a big countdown clock on it.....

I reckon I'll just email right at 8 PDT, then I'll have a time stamp on my request.....although that probably won't matter. I doubt I'll put a deposit down till the pictures of the new model I want comes out anyway, surely they won't want folks to pay for something they haven't seen!

Me too....
FYI - CAD is down almost 1% this morning so that will save US buyers $25 on the $2500 down payment --- if it stays that way all day that is. Exchange rate seems to bounce all over the place lately. It seems to move with oil prices.

You are probably right. I don't think you are officially in the queue until you are ready to make the deposit. So the timestamp on your email probably won't come into play in this case.

I would give a deposit sight unseen without a problem, and in fact have with both my Escape purchases.

We placed our order having never actually been inside an Escape (pictures only). And to this day, we have still not been inside a 17B yet. We are hoping to see our first 17B this Sunday when we see Jon at Chickasaw state park.

Yup, but then again ETI doesn't seem overly worried about the timeliness of queues, otherwise there would already be an organized waiting list and today's exercise would be moot. I guess I can understand folks buying stuff sight unseen if it's a second purchase, but as a first time buyer (at $30K!), no can do. It'll probably put me into the middle to the end of 2017....

Fortunately we were able to see a 19 shortly after we placed our order, and while not exactly the same, it still made us very comfortable in our decision. And knowing that we could change our mind at any point for any reason up until it went into production and only lose our $500 CDN deposit helped also.

The check I gave them yesterday went through at 1.26. The check on Feb 4th was at 1.36 and 1.43 on Jan 18th. That's the percentage their bank gave them.

Laura,
Finally got through and placed my order, a 21 with a date of 14 February 2017. Put deposit on my credit card with no foreign transaction fees. The Canadian dollar has been moving all day, the exchange rates is going to be what it is.
Peace ,
Steve M

People say the exchange rate is tied to the price of oil. Personally, I think it's tied to the number of transactions going through at ETI.

And I thought this was going to be a one shot gunfight. It's more like shootout at the OK Corral on a continuous loop. I casually punched up the production schedule a few minutes ago to see how February was doing. Question should have been how's April doing. Congrats to all the buyers and especially to Escape and all their hard working employees.
