Gift card from Camping World

Okay, just got a $100 gift card from Camping World. Would like some suggestions on what to spend it on. Not much in the store has interested me or I already have it. Did a bit of checking around their website last night and only a few things jumped out at me saying "yeah, this looks interesting".

So, if this was your card, how would you be spending it there? If you have the link to it, even better!

Awning party lights, better camp chairs, better small folding table(s), collapsible dishware, bigger or smaller outdoor rug, flag and flag pole holder, knife safe, toilet chemicals, folding step (like Bobbie mentioned), lego blocks, better chocks, Rhino sewer hose.... and on and on.

I live about 4 miles from a Camping World and have bought a lot of things there over the years. Yes, I could get stuff cheaper elsewhere now... but this was before Amazon Prime!

Definitely get this! I can't recommend it because I have never had one, but I find myself overcome with intense jealousy every time I see someone sitting in one...

I met a couple who were using foldable rocking chairs. They told me they got them at Camping World for $50 each. The chairs didn't have a curved part on the bottom; instead the suspension let them rock. I thought they were pretty neat.

We have a pair. They were a gift from my Mom - no idea where she got them. Brand name is "GCI Outdoor" and the model is "Freestyle Rocker". They're not bad as camp chairs, but they are pretty vertical on the back.

I've been really curious why folks need to use this type of step. Are you putting it at the end of the step that's already on the trailer? Or using it instead of the trailer's step?

I've not been in a situation where I felt I needed another step. Maybe my step comes down a bit lower than others. I dunno. I did notice the steps on the display trailers at ETI seemed a bit higher than mine, but I wasn't curious enough to measure and compare.

I just know the step is a pain in the posterior to pull out and put back in. It keeps getting caught in the little lip/notch area and rattles around due to my frustration. I could see using a fold out step instead when I get annoyed with the trailer's step. I remember someone commenting ages and ages ago he uses his foot to pull it out or push it in. My shoes aren't ratty enough to do that, but I do think of that comment when I'm annoyed at the step.

Anyway, thanks for the ideas that have been posted. Still pondering what the heck to spend it on. I am kind of interested in this, but that still leaves a lot to figure out. Sorry, Nathan, not getting you that chair.

Laura I think it depends on the campsite. We use a Stromberg Carlson with folding legs that can also be adjusted for height. At several campsites my wife has remarked that the single step was too high and too small. With the larger platform of the Stromberg Carlson, and adjusted to the lowest setting, it's much easier to enter and exit, and to her it feels safer.

Laura, I think the key to pulling out the step is to lift the whole step up, especially the back of it. Then pull it forward and lower it.

I can actually take it in and out with one foot as others have mentioned.

I bought that step for my Mother so she could get in and out of my truck! THEN, I took a good friend to the Escape rally in 2015. She has RA. So while I have no problems using the standard step getting in an out of Ten Forward, it was far easier for her to use the step as a measure of comfort. Shorter step up, easier to get in and out. Besides, the adjustable has a much wider base. Because the legs fold into the body, it rides permanently underneath the back seat of my truck. Deploys in seconds. Double duty, win-win.

My friends bought the step because of a campsite that was too high for their RV steps. (Due to the slant of the ground. But I'm using it for my elderly corgi who has trouble getting up just the one trailer step. With the broad lower step he can do it on his own. The adjustable legs help because they go lower than most of the ones I looked at, but also, can be individually leveled if the ground isn't level. It's very stable and I have a bit of carpet over it so no toes caught in the spaces.

I use the extra step at the end of the step that's already on the trailer. I find that a wider platform is easier on my knees: the trailer's step is so narrow I sometimes pivot when I enter/exit the door (especially when I exit). I think we originally bought it for our Casita, but the Escape has the same, narrow step, so we still use it. I dunno, maybe my feet are just too big.

Okay gang, thanks for the comments on the step. I don't know that I'll actually use it with the trailer, but it will be hauled in the Tundra. Reason - Donna's comment about getting it for use in her truck for someone else set off the "duh" thinking mode. My MIL has RA, among other things. We've used a small step stool for her, but it doesn't work very well as the handle can get in the way. It won't with this step.

Oh, and I did see the thread about "Bear Steps" and that makes perfect sense about using that little step then. Dang, their step sure is high. I know mine isn't that high. Dang!

Mine are size 11.

And yet my shoes fit quite nicely in the shoe box I got from RV Widgets for the under-the-bed storage area.

We won't mention how many times I do trip over my slippers in the trailer though.

I'll have to kind of see how I actually use that step the next time I go in and out of there.
