help us pick an opening bathroom window ($200 vs $300)
Hi all
We want an 'opening' window in the bathroom, without question. 2017 21’ on order.
we tend to leave it open a small amount in our (current) Casita all the time…., for a variety of reasons
based on this , should we spend the extra $100 to get the Opening Window in Bathroom (Frame-less Thermal) ($300 total)
or just spend the $200 to get the non-thermal?
I assume the non-thermal is the old fashioned slider?
if it rains, and we are away from the trailer, i assume the frame less thermal would be better to have, as it is hinged at the top, rather than a slider…. so less or no rain coming in....
?

We have the nonthermal opening bath window and would not be without it. Don't believe they had the thermal option when we ordered last year.
Our window is a slider, sliding up and down.
I open the window some but close it when away with vent open. If raining, I will close vent also as it is said to let rain in. When returning, I usually run the bath fan after opening window and also run the Maxx fan for a couple of minutes after opening kitchen window. We have had no condensation as reported by others when there are 30/70 temps.
As for thermal, our others are and only you know if you want to spend the extra for it. People complain about the bath being cold so it might be a good idea.

Is that an awning style or slider?

Slider, up and down. I too leave it open most often, doesn't have to be much to be effective.

Bummer, mine's 2014 and it's not thermal Actually, I paid for the thermal option, now I'm wondering if a non-thermal was installed accidentally. Not to be insulting but are you sure your's is thermal? When it's open and you're outside can you see that there is two layers of glass?
I'd say, whatever, your choice, just get an opening window, it's so handy to have.

Ron, now you have me questioning my own memory I'll be bringing Ten Forward home tomorrow to get it ready for Spring NOG. Poor trailer is a bit green looking. I'll check then and report back.

thanks for the thoughts... i think i'll splurge on the extra $100, just to have the awning style that the thermal is....
it'll also be nice to have all the windows match. visually.
it is the small things.

I am supposing ours is nonthermal because I believe we paid $200.
Our kitchen window is awning because we had the 19' awning kitchen window installed on our 21'.
Most people figure that the bath can get wet, so what, but we had a leaking vent before with constant wet floor. We replaced the vent for new owners. An awning window would be nice. Some people with old Escapes have awning bath windows.

It is ironic, but with the opening bath window, every time the Mrs.uses it, it becomes closed, so why bother?

I've also been thinking about this with my new 17B. I think I'll go with the cheaper non-thermal. My though is that it shouldn't really keep the trailer any cooler, as the bathroom door will usually be closed, and also (as someone mentioned), it is a wet bath so a few drops of rain shouldn't hurt. I try not to camp in typhoons! 😆

If you're going for the new frameless windows it would look odd to have a non-frameless anywhere IMO.

I know for $100 more, this would most definitely be my choice. Things need to be matchy matchy.

No awning, no tires, no windows, you are becoming just an empty shell.
Oh wait, you mean no window in the bath, not the entire trailer. We did that too (not like we had an option then).

The thermal does a better job in the winter in keeping the bath warmer, if that is possible.

Do both types of (or either) windows open completely to the outside (sliding screen) to allow for a hose and wand to pass through for rinsing the toilet? Realizing this fun task could be accomplished by going through the main entry (only entry for that matter) door, it is pretty convenient and potentially less wet, to pass it through the bathroom window.

The screen on the single pane slider opens to feed a hose through the bathroom window.

Usually the services are on the bathroom side and it's convenient to pass the hose straight in. With the slider it's easy to do. Having to drag the hose around to the door and pass it through the trailer would be less convenient.
At the risk of mentioning one other feature no one else has mentioned, when using the facilities it's possible to observe the outside world. I'm not sure if you can easily see out of the awning type window. Probably I'm the only one in the whole world that uses that feature.
