Maxx fan

The 17 foot escape comes with a Maxx fan roof vent. Possible options include a maxx fan upgrade 7000 K or maxx fan upgrade 7500K (smoke grey) both with remote. What are the differences?

You stated them. Standard is manual and white. 7000 series has a remote and is white and the 7500 is smoke. The remote on the 7000 series means you have a power lift and close. There are no additional features and in 17 the controls are always close by on the vent. Remote is nice, however, if you don't want to get out of bed to adjust the speed or open or close the vent.

All I would add is that while power opening seems like a extravagance, and the manual opening knob is easy for most to reach (especially in the 17', with its lower ceiling height), if any of the users of the trailer have physical difficulty reaching over their heads then power opening/closing would be a valuable feature.

It is? I'm 5'7" and have zero problems. Is it because the one in Ten Forward is located in a different place because I don't have A/C? Hummmm.

Correct, those with a/c have the MaxFan vent located forward, almost over the steps, Donna can you open that vent easily since yours in the rear?

I thought the upgrades both offered an auto thermostat feature where it will try to modulate fan speed to keep in a temperature.

True? False?

I mean .... Other than "smoke" to let in a tiny bit more light
And the ability to power remote open and close....

Why bother?

All the fans have thermostat control standard and upgrade which is all we wanted so didn't look at the upgraded fan because we didn't need a remote.

$100 extra or $125 extra for a remote seems like one place we could save a few $

does anyone know the model # of the stock fan, currently?

thanks.

Do any of the Maxx fan options have the rain cover or are they all just the basic fan, some with a remote, with the lid that opens?

The MaxxFan cover is a rain cover, it can be operated in the rain, not to be confused with the other brands that may need a rain cover.

Jim - good news and thanks for clearing that up. If I had not installed a MaxxAir II vent cover over the Fantastic fan on my current trailer the vent would have been useless in the rain.

The lid of the Deluxe models (which are the ones used by Escape, even as standard equipment) do have integral folding rain covers; there are lesser models of the same MaxxFan brand which do not have this feature.

Thanks. Good to know.

I am in the early stages of considerig options for our future Escape and was confused by seeing a Maxxfan ad last night for a (apparently) lesser model. Installing a vent cover is not a big deal but so much better not to have to do so.

Question

so then I guess the 'stock' Maxx Fan that ETI currently uses is the 5100 - so white, and no remote - correct?

we dont need the remote, for our 21' (we can easily reach)

so the only thing that makes me think about spending the $125 CAD for the "7500k" would be the smoke (translucent) cover, so blue sky would (sort of) be visible.

is the blue sky view out the small opening worth having? I know it is subjective.

(edit)

I just found a post, here, from 2012, that indicates that a replacement smoke lid is fairly inexpensive......

does anyone here happen to know how fiddly it is to swap out a Maxx Fan lid?

here is the info I found:

The price of the MaxxFan Deluxe Smoke Lid Assembly is as follows:

(1) 05-30520 $29.47
(1) Shipping to 17403 ZIP code $17.47

Sales tax will also be charged on this item.

If you wish to order the Smoke Lid please call Customer Service at 800.780.9893 x23 with a VISA or MasterCard for payment.
We will require a shipping address and serial number of the MaxxFan to ensure we ship the correct replacement lid.

You can always look out a window, or go outside.

The stock fan is the 5100
The same fan with a smoke cover and without the remote is the 6200 but I don't think ETI offers it. It would be worth dropping them a email.

Or alternatively, if you have a good medical plan, when you get home after a trip, just have your chiropractor fix the sore neck you got from looking out the Max-fan opening.
