You get more lounge space to put your feet up. That is what people often do with the U. More comfort. Some have added pieces to make the U end larger.

I think as said earlier that if the table can't be removed in the 19 U it is too cramped. If you don't install the table, which we'll probably rarely ever put the table in, then the U becomes more usable as a lounge in the 19. If I was going to keep the table in place all the time, I'd probably not do the U in the 19.

I am happy with my u dinette, I have it raised too! I like that the table is small, it is much easier for me to lower and raise. I did put in the springfield pedestal which is helpful, but it does mean the table is not removable. I like having the table and not just a lounge; having a place to dine, a place for reading, or hobbies.

We have the U-Shape. I have mixed feelings on it. When you use it as a bed the cushions shift around to much. It's great for eating, and the 3-stage pedestal is easy to use.

You're right Cathy, but I haven't overlooked it - I've mentioned the extra storage before as one advantage. Another is the extra depth in the benches we got from raising them.

Yes, 19' owners can also raise the benches. Buyers of the 21' should note that benches on a 21' cannot be raised.

We consider the U-shaped dinette one of our best decisions. Not only do we have more storage underneath, you can order the table as a front-to-back slide which means we have more floor space when the table is positioned towards the back. Linda, I hadn't thought much about the fact that the table is smaller/lighter; however, after struggling with the smaller one during a rain storm, with grandkids, I can only imagine what it would have been like with a larger table. Guess that's where the hydraulic pedestal would come in handy.

Definitely agree with you, Jan, the "U" dinette in the rear makes the trailer....with the front to rear slide or removing the table easily makes the area more versatile. The standard table is a 2 person job to remove, not with the small "U" set up.

I'm thinking the real trade off is that a standard bench is more practical for use as a dinette, and the U shape is more practical for use as a lounge. Of course, you can eat or lounge in either.

Anyone care to comment on the 19 dinette with the table hinged at the front wall?

That would be my choice if not getting the "U" set up, it is very easy to put down and up but it does not slide like the stock table thus it is cut out at the ends to allow ease of use.

From my understanding, it is like a bunk bed that can go over the dinette. Perhaps someone may have more information here about it.

The gaucho bunk requires reinforcement to be attached to fibreglass walls during the build, so you must order in advance.

We have the bunk in our 19'. Breaks down and stores below the rear bed when it's not in use. Takes a minute or two to set up or take down. My daughter prefers to sleep on the bunk rather than the dinette bed for comfort, and I find it easier than taking down the table. Even my 19 yr old son has slept on the bunk, he is about 6' 3" and 180 lbs. The bunk is supposed to be good to about 200 lbs.

It would work fine, as it is independent from the dinette, just mounted about it.
