I'm thinking the real trade off is that a standard bench is more practical for use as a dinette, and the U shape is more practical for use as a lounge. Of course, you can eat or lounge in either.

Anyone care to comment on the 19 dinette with the table hinged at the front wall?

That would be my choice if not getting the "U" set up, it is very easy to put down and up but it does not slide like the stock table thus it is cut out at the ends to allow ease of use.

From my understanding, it is like a bunk bed that can go over the dinette. Perhaps someone may have more information here about it.

The gaucho bunk requires reinforcement to be attached to fibreglass walls during the build, so you must order in advance.

We have the bunk in our 19'. Breaks down and stores below the rear bed when it's not in use. Takes a minute or two to set up or take down. My daughter prefers to sleep on the bunk rather than the dinette bed for comfort, and I find it easier than taking down the table. Even my 19 yr old son has slept on the bunk, he is about 6' 3" and 180 lbs. The bunk is supposed to be good to about 200 lbs.

It would work fine, as it is independent from the dinette, just mounted about it.
