new 21' axle and brakes ?'s
We are scheduled to pickup new Escape 21 Jul 2018, and will be selling our 2004 Casita soon. I have 2 complete brake drum, brakes, axle bearings, seals, etc as spares for our Casita.
I'm wondering if I should pass the spares along to whoever buys our Casita, or keep them for the new Escape? Does anyone know if the Casita brakes, axle bearings are the same as on Escape. I suspect they are, but don't know.
Any comments welcomed. Thanks

The Casita 17 uses a Dexter #10 3500lb Torflex Axle, 10” X 2 1/4” electric manual adjust brakes, 5 On 4-1/2" With 1/2" Stud hubs, E-Z Lube.
The Escape 21 uses two Dexter #10 3500lb Torflex Axles, 10” X 2 1/4” electric manual adjust brakes, 5 On 4-1/2" With 1/2" Stud hubs, E-Z Lube.
I would keep the spare parts.

The axles on the 19 are the same as the 21 as tdf-texas posted above in post #2. The only difference is they are derated with less rubber to be a better match for the actual trailer weight and provide a smoother ride (less stiff). They are highly reliable with the only maintenance being routine bearing and brake work.
Dexter has a lot of great information online regarding their Torflex line: Torsion Axles

In our 2017 they were not derated, We have 3500 pound axles.

Well that is interesting. That would give you 7000# capacity with a 5000# GVWR. On our early 19 they are 2300# rated for a total of 4600# on a 4000# GVWR. I'm no trailer suspension designer but I would think that 2000# over the GVWR and even more over what you might be typically loaded at would make the trailer ride much rougher. Maybe I'm not thinking about this correctly. Thoughts?

Remember that the Gen2 19 gained the most weight, most likely due to going from 3" steel frames to 4", so a Gen2 19 weighs almost as much as a Gen1 21.
