Pedestal that drops down for bed setup

The unending build sheet again comes to you for guidance...! Is there a table pedestal that drops down so the bed can be set up without removing it? Floor to rail for table setup in a 17B is 13 3/4".

Yes, search for Springfield pedestal.

This is the one most people buy. I think we got it for about $280 if I remember right. This website has sales frequently.

Can you replace the two posts in a standard installation with one of these?

Yes, that's what we will be doing. You buy the pedestal and take it to Escape when you go for orientation and they will install it for you at no cost. No credit for the two normal posts you are not installing.

I wonder if the measurements are the same for the 21 and 17B.... so your understanding is that this can be dropped down to set up the bed?

I would think the height would be the same in all models but don't know for a fact. I just went down the basement and measured my Springfield (it's in a big pile of trailer junk destined to head for ETI) and it is 13 inches from floor to the top of the table mounting plate when fully collapsed.

Are you planing on using the pedestal at the front or at the back? The pedestal itself is rather bulky and the 17B is narrower than a 19 or 21, so you'll have less room for feet.
We tried setting up the rear table as a bed and back to a table daily and now just leave it as a bed. If you decide you need a foam topper on the cushions ( and you probably will ) you have to figure out where to put it and the bedding when set up as a table. We've also got bins under the bed, and those would have to go somewhere.

Interesting, normally Overton's sells the silver version cheaper than the black version. Right now the black version is marked down so they are the same price. However they also have an additional 20% off and free shipping deal right now. It seems like the 20% off sale happens fairly often.

I don't know if this helps but here's our waiting to be installed Springfield pedestal in the up (27-7/8") and down (13") positions.

ETI is very familiar with these pedestals and should be able to answer your questions.

I've never had this sideways picture problem before. I tried a few times to make these post right side up but it's not working. I give up, here they are sideways.

I fixed the pictures - Donna

I'm guessing that:

1- The photos were taken with an iPhone
2- The photos were taken in portrait mode (phone held up and down instead of sideways)

So, if that's the case, save the photos to your computer. Once there, edit the photos by rotating them 90 degrees to the right. Save them that way. Then, upload the photos to the forum. They'll be correctly oriented.

I haven't had this problem with my iPhone, but I send the picture to my mail account on my Mac. I then download it to my desktop ( so it's easy to find ). I've not had to rotate it.

Thanks for the tips. They were taken in portrait with my iPad. I tried rotating 3 them different ways before posting. No luck. Then tried rotating them and emailing them to myself, but I still opened them on the iPad. No luck. That's when I gave up and went to bed. I'll try saving them to my Mac next time.

If you areally referring to the Dicor Cosmo pedestal it is not suitable as the three fixed detents are not adjustable and won't match the height needed for the down position for a bed. Several (myself included) have used a Springfield pedestal with a Dicor 4-way slide.

Our solution was to get a Springfield pedestal to ETI, and to ask them to use the stock ETI slide with it.

We realized after much research that with a standard dinette in a 21' (so not the U shaped dinette) that having a Dicor 4-way slide wouldnt really be of much advantage to us, as there wasn't the rear of the U to slide the table away from.

ETI noted the build sheet as such. No problems, no extra charge

and.... at orientation ETI will have already mounted our Springfield pedistal to their stock slide, and they will double check with us exactly where we want it screwed to the floor (the issue is that we have to make sure the table top clears the slight curve in at the rear, when in the down position) then they will screw it down on the spot, into the floor.

and... FWIIW I remember reading here, is that with this setup, it is best to travel with the dining table *down* to avoid it flopping about and ripping off due to very rough roads. We plan on doing that as a precaution.

Yeah, I figured that one out the hard way.
At least Dicor took refunded me including the shipping, and paid the return shipping as well. Pretty decent of them.
