Plug & Play BBQ grill for quick connect option?

Anyone have a suggestion of a decent BBQ grill that I can purchase, store in the front box, and plug in to the, "Exterior Propane Quick Connect with 12' Propane Hose and Adapter- 1/8" on my Escape?

I see Camping World has one Coleman that might fit the bill, but would like to know what else is out there. Need a surface area that can cook for 3-4 people.

I have the Duro NXR 20,000 BTU 2 burner grill. Used it all last camping season and worked well. Used almost every day and still looks like new. Only problem it won't fit in your storage box. I transported it in the back of the FJ was no big deal for me, although I know a lot of people don't like having the BBQ in the tow vehicle. Costco has for $99 to $199 in US. I got a brand new one from a private seller for $125 CDN so that wasn't bad.

Do you use this with the ETI quick connect option hose, or the, "large LP tank regulator and hose that came with the grill?"

I use it with the hose that comes with the ETI optional outdoor propane connection. I think it is 12 feet, it is plenty long. You do not use the hose and regulator that comes with the bbq since the pressure is already regulated at the remote connection.

Some BBQs can be adapted to use the quick-connect and some can't.
I don't know of a decent BBQ for four that would fit in the storage box.
I have quite a collection of portable BBQs, but I don't use the quick connect. A buddy has the quick connect, but doesn't use it ( he has a Broil King Porta Chef ).
I have a Weber ( don't think it works with quick connect ). I have a Dickinson ( optional low pressure regulator costs $60 ). Now have a Napoleon which has large grill area and two burners so I can cook direct or indirect ( don't think it would ever fit in the Escape storage box ).
I just use a 10lb. tank and place my Napoleon where I want it.

When I was up at ETI a few months back I had them install a propane quick disconnect and Rease mentioned that people were having good success with one of the Weber grills in particular, but I don't recall which one.

I think that is the weber 100 or something like that. Available at Walmart.

I donno. The Weber 100 or Baby Q is one of the BBQs that I have. It has the regulator built in to the control and is intended to be used with a 1lb. tank, but you can also use it with a hose to a larger propane tank.
The flame control is built in to the regulator so if you remove the regulator so you can use the low pressure hose, you have no way to control the flame.

But, if I really wanted to have a decent BBQ that might fit into the storage box, I would get the Weber and use it with 1lb. tanks or larger and forget about the low pressure quick connect.

I think it is the baby q that we have had for a few years and use the quick connect. We had the regulator removed when we bought it and they put on a long hose and the quick connect end...

How do you control the flame if you remove the pressure regulator since the control knob is integrated ?

The regulator on the Weber 1000/2000 series is attached to the flame control and the two can be separated. A couple of brass fittings from Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. can then be used to attach a pigtail to the flame control making it fully functional on low pressure. So simple anyone with a minimim of mechanical ability can do it themselves.

I think I have the Weber q 100 and the regulator is separate from the flame control. Looks like the suppled QC hose from ETI screws right on the thread when you remove the regulator. Getting ready to remove it and test this weekend. Also have the Ranger ii arriving Saturday and a Torjik quick connect Y adapter coming so I can hook both up at once.

We picked up a Weber Q1200 the second day we were bringing the trailer back and I think it is a great grill. I was going to adapt it to the quick connect but after we started using it on our deck, I will just stay with the small propane bottles. But the quick connect will get used for one of those portable fire pits. That's next on the shopping list. Loren
