And, if you locked the keys ( including the hatch key ) in the trailer?

How does one lock the keys inside, you need the key outside to lock the door?

Beats me, but people have had to remove the door to gain access. Anyways, the answer is that you ask to borrow another RVer's keys. Safer than asking to borrow their kid.

We did just that with a stick built bunk model we had. We forgot keys, and fortunately the hatch was unlocked (had a keyed lock in one side, and a twist lock on the other). The hatch opened under the bunk and had an access door on the inside.

It depends on the specific latch. The one in this discussion probably works like others which look similar - if you flip the inside lever to locked then close the door, it's locked; the lever can be flipped before closing the door, you can close it from the outside and get it locked without a key. That doesn't work for the deadbolt portion.

I have always used a key to lock my doors, did not know that you could lock and close it, hopefully I will forget this and continue my key method.

(Strange - smilies don't seem to be working)

My wife always insisted on locking her Honda (before keyless entry) with the key, because that guaranteed that she didn't lock the key inside. It worked for her.

Following the same logic, it can make sense to have a deadbolt as the only locking part of the latch set, because it requires that a key be used to lock it from the outside.

Not exactly , having had 2 of those doors . Most of us installed a house deadbolt lock to those doors . Pat

I have a complete set of keys stashed in the tow vehicle, and the tow vehicle has an electronic keypad so I would have to accidentally lock the keys in the trailer and have the vehicle system fail at the same time to be locked out. Doubtful that would happen.

My wife and I each have a set of keys for the tow and the trailer. If I lose mine, we know that hers are safely locked in the trailer.

That's kind of the point with the RVLock. If you don't have your key, you can get in with a combo. If it'd fit on my door style, I'd install one tomorrow.

Know that feeling.

You can tell the person who grew up in an area of high crime, he locks his car in his locked garage.

I purchased the lock with a certain amount of paranoia in mind (pun intended). Having been a victim, or family member of a victim of several property crimes, burglary, auto theft, theft from auto, I simply find myself taking those precautions that I can to prevent them from happening. Like the locks for hitches and wheels all I want to do is make the thief think twice about taking what is mine.

I have a dog who first barks viciously, then proceeds to give kisses to whoever tries to come in our house. I may kid a bit here, but having a dog in the house that "announces" anyone nearing the house is one of the best burglary preventions out there.

Received our's and thankfully no broken parts all looks well built, and if it should fail we have a backup plan. Only problems is they are both push overs and if you have a bone they will help you hitch it up

Just received my replacement inside handle, wrapped in three layers of bubble wrap! No broken red lever! And a postage payed return label to send the broken one back. I have no complaints with their customer service. Now I just have to get my 19 to install it in. April is a long ways off!

We got ours today. It was not double-wrapped, but no broken parts!
