stove cover

Someone mentioned recently that instead of a stove cover they just used a cutting board to put over the burners. I'm wondering how that has worked for people. Does the stove cover fold up against the wall behind the stove or does it become detached?

the 3 burner cover flips up and leans against the rear, it has a splatter shield on one side and is hinged in the rear. It is easily removed with 4 screws and several members have made cutting boards to sit on the burners for extra counter space or you can purchase Hardwood Stove Topper/Cutting Board - Camco 43753 - Counter & Stove Tops - Camping World

Thanks Jim. I just went to the link and that looks really useful. We are getting the two burner stove.

I believe the cover is an option, so you decide, you want the white as shown or a cutting board type of a custom made wooden, your choice. Just member, anything not attached can end up on the floor while towing, like a stove cover.

Our 19' not here yet, but have seen pictures. We had two burner stove turned sideways. Standing at counter, looking at outside wall, larger burner in front, smaller behind. Increases counter space! The cover raises toward the little wall between galley & bed. Since that is cut away wall, it actually will block some splatters that might go to bed.
As said, don't have trailer yet, so can't give practical experience of using setup til late Oct.
Kim said SS cover is sturdy enough to put my thin plastic cutting sheets on and cut.

We have the three burner stove in our 19. To increase counter space, we ordered a piece of cutting board material that fits over the stock folding cover. The cutting board is screwed to the metal cover. The folding cover was always a huge pain in the butt so having the cutting board on it has vastly improved its usefulness. Sorry, I don't have any photos of the installation and our 19 is now in winter storage. If you want to see it you will have to attend the Escape Rally next June <g>.

We have the 3 burner stainless stove with cover, and got this cutting board at Camping World. Fits perfectly, and the non-stick backing means it won't bounce off while driving. (well, it hasn't YET). I like hat I can have the stainless backsplash AND a separate cutting board.
