Hi Jim,
Look for the "TIRE AND LOADING INFORMATION" sticker opposite the VIN sticker. These are specific to each vehicle according to it's options. I know that it still comes down to actual scale weight.

I have one of those Charlie, but I thought it was only tire specific, but I will have a look. Headed out to look at some houses right now, but will report back when I return.

That label is tire specific as your wheel and tire combo's change your towing and carrying capacities.

Nice truck Jim. That should get you to the lake in style!

i just have a step ladder in my truck bed for the high tailgate. Works as a cargo separator too!

I just checked that tire sticker, and it says 1,646 lbs. There are really no changes, other than the tires that should change it that much, I would think. Maybe I will still find a scale, and just weight it.

I can see how that might have a bit of an effect on towing, with the 2" bigger tires, but not payload, as that is weight acting downwards. Plus, the difference of 360 lbs seems huge.

Though to put in into context, it is more than enough for my needs anyway, and it really is good to know what the limits really are.

My larger tires reduced my capacity also.....but 1646 lbs is certainly enough for your needs.

No, the gas is part of what makes the vehicle ready to drive, so it is included in curb weight and thus not the payload. To get the precise payload value for the truck, weigh it with a full tank or add an allowance for additional fuel to the scale reading.

Depending on the source, perhaps Robert's published payload allowed for the worst case in options... or he weighed the truck with an empty fuel tank.

You might be surprised how much heavier 20" wheels are than the 18", and if the 20" tires were wider (they often are, but in this case both are 275 mm wide) they would likely be heavier. I wouldn't be very surprised by a 25 pound per corner difference with a width difference, but it does seem like a lot in this case.

The heavier wheels and tires reduce payload. The 2" larger wheel diameter is irrelevant by itself, since the shorter tire sidewalls result in the same overall tire diameter as the 18" setup (and not by accident), so overall effective gearing is not changed.

That's what I thought, need to edit your signature line. FWIW, the yellow sticker was correct when I had my F150 weighed.

Oh yeah, thanks. Anna-Marie told me to in a PM a couple days ago, and I forgot.

According to the Ford Canada F-150 Towing specs page, of the three levels of GVWR/payload available for this cab/box/4x4 combination, only the lowest (the one Jim has) is available with the 20" wheels. Getting more GVWR and payload requires more serious working wheels and rubber, rather than the "sporty/trendy" low-profile setup; the highest payload is only for the 18" wheels. The 20" setup may be the nicest to drive for applications that don't require maximum payload.

The base wheels - even for this cab/box/engine combination - are 17", so there might be more of a weight difference to the 20" setup than there would be between 18" and 20". With the Lariat, you start with 18" and can upgrade to 20".

I had a 1990 Ford Ranger with a V6, the first year they used that drivetrain. I would have considered another one as a TV if they were still sold in the U.S.

I drove that truck for eighteen years. I didn't mean to keep it that long, but not long after I bought it my girlfriend at the time complained that I didn't have any goals in life. I said, "well, okay; I'll drive my truck for twenty years. That's a goal." I almost made it. Meanwhile she left me for someone with more ambition.

I'd like to go to Nova Scotia, but it's too early to tell when/if I'll do it. If I go, it will probably be in late summer / early fall.
