Tile flooring in shower pan
I just ordered some "Designer Grip-Loc" flooring tiles for the shower pan of our eventually-it'll-be-here trailer. Previously I ordered samples from two different companies and these guys offered the best price. I tried all styles out with bare feet and these were the ones I liked the best.
I know they're not for everyone, but I think (hope!) they'll work for us. And best of all, they're having a site-wide 25% off sale on flooring through Thursday! And there wasn't any shipping. Double Yay!

I became aware of this product due to posts about it in the past. So, thanks to whomever clued me in to this stuff.

I use one of those black rubber "holey" mats in the bathroom-(cut to size)-shake it out to sweep and is soft on the feet.... We used a bigger one outside for our mat...But it didn't fold well needless to say and was quite cumbersome...
I did have a rubber backed mat in there for years but if it rains and the vents leaks well it got absolutely soaked and it was a surprise in the middle of the night!! LOL
If I didn't have that I would look at those tiles--are they really soft??

Well, can't answer that from personal use. You can request 3 free samples from them, but they're rather small to stand on. The one I mentioned was softer and more flexible than the others I got samples of. I also got a full size (12"x12") sample from Dura-Grid from Snap-Lock Industries and it felt the same as the smaller sample. While standing on it (the full size sample), it felt halfway decent. But we'll see with actual usage. I have to wear shoe inserts all the time, so I'm hoping this will work on my feet. Nice thing is you can size it by cutting it down. And they had some nice colors.

We use tiles just like Laura shows, and no they are not soft on the feet, but they do work. After using them for about a year we started taking it out of the bath when showering as its just in the way when we dry the shower after use and stays wet for too long. Once cut to size and locked together, they stay together as one piece, at least ours do so its easy to remove and replace.
For us it's main use is preventing sand and so forth from scouring the bathroom floor. We store our gallons of drinking water on the bathroom floor when traveling, add the inevitable sand and dirt one brings in when camping and after a number of years on our previous trailer the shower floor was all scratched up.

I like the feel of wood on my bare feet and debris just falls between the slats. Hose down occasionally and it is clean. http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f8...ck-3134-7.html

I surprise for you? I bet it was a hell of a shock to Doug when you put your cold, wet feet against his back.
I never did anything in our 19, as we never showered in it much, but am considering doing something for the 5.0, and am leaning towards building a nicer wood one, like the one Jim shows, as I would want a one piece solution for easy removal and replacing.

I had two in my 19 which were really 2 combined smaller wood mats and the larger one in the 21 allowed this single mat to work with some sanding along one edge...

I was thinking of making one to fit with teak lath, sized to fit. I remember the 19 and 5.0 had a non-rectangular shape to the floor. Will have to see after the new moulds are done.

The bath in the 5.0 is the only downside as compared to the 21' Escape. It is the same as the 19' which is maybe 6" smaller all the way around than the 21' Escape.

Bath size for many has been shown to be a concern, but for me I appreciate the small size to give more space for other things, and leave it feel as open as possible. The bath in the 21 has the advantage of being tucked in a corner, where it being a bit bigger does not cramp the space.
Lots of pluses or minuses both ways comparing the 21 to the 5.0. Unfortunately the 5.0 does not have larger propane tanks, so you won't be able to keep it for very long.
Always some sort of compromise though, eh?

Six. Probably could have gotten 5, but Dirk said to get an extra square in case we muck it up while trimming it down. Not that that has ever happened around here!
