To buy or not to buy 1st year production of 21 footer?

Hi everyone from a newbie,

I am thinking of buying an early first year 21 and would welcome your opinions. I generally never buy a first year model of anything, especially vehicles. Nevertheless, all the positive comments about Escape has me seriously considering buying one of the early 21s. My vehicle has enough towing capacity to handle the extra weight and width over the 19, and although I am a moderate minimalist, my wife would appreciate the extra room - especially in the bathroom. We are 5'8" and 5'2 - so the smaller than queen size bed is not an issue.

Thank you in advance for sharing your perspectives.

Welcome to the fold. Like I mentioned on FGRV, just go for it if it is what will suit you. You will not be disappointed, of that you can be certain.

The 19s went into production in March of '09, we ordered ours sight unseen in January of that year based on what we'd seen in a 17, and took delivery in July. It was well thought out, and the build was flawless. Most of what's going into the 21 is similar/same as the other Escapes, I think you'd have no trouble with a first-year 21.

Welcome to the forum. We bought one of the first 19s and had no regrets. Things will always be changing and evolving with new products/items coming onto the market. One thing about Reace is if you want something different and he can do it the answer is usually yes, so I would go for it.

I'd buy a first year Escape 5.0 if I could find one for sale, but the owners seem to be hanging on to them!

Buying a first year model is different than buying the first one ever built by a manufacturer. I have complete confidence that Reace and Tammy have nailed the manufacturing, no matter what "new" model.

I think these days the process is on-going, no matter what's being manufactured. The same model of something could be significantly different from one week to the next or depending on where the plant is located.
In this case, we know who is making it and where the plant is.
