Trailer Completion date now Jan. 31/18

I was looking at the Escape Trailer website today and noticed that each of the completion dates for the various models included a new date early in 2018. I contacted ETI and was able to move up my completion date from July 23/18 to Jan. 31/18. This is great news as I will have the trailer for the whole summer. If you have a trailer on order & you want it earlier, you might want to contact ETI.

A few days ago the best date for a 19 was late July and a 17 was in August. Right now there are 2 dates available in June for a 19 and a better than August date for a 17.
They will not last long...make the call!

Interesting, as the completion dates gets shorter, the time for used and already completed units grow longer. I remember used units were gone within hours as were factory cancellations. Increased production is a double edged sword, so to speak.

I just booked my Orientation Date of Monday, March 19 at 8:00 A.M. You can book your 2 hour orientation date well ahead of time and getting it on Monday morning makes it possible to get the trailer back to Calgary on the same day (weather permitting).

I booked mine April 3. Likely won’t drive back to Okotoks in one day... will spend one night out.

I called last week when I noticed that (it's a really good thing I'm not charged by the visit to the website) and my 17A moved from August 8 to March 21!! I won't pick up til May, but it means I can come to the gathering! I have to have my build done by 12/21 so I need to make a few more decisions. But I think I'll be glad I didn't have 5 more months to think things over and over and over.

Yeah, I've noticed the same thing, Jim. Supply and demand. Folks aren't wanting a used trailer (even one slightly used) if they don't have to wait that long to get a brand new one with everything they want. When you offered to sell us your 21, we decided we were willing to wait to get all the features we wanted (and that was before we knew about the new styling), even though it was a much longer wait than it is now.

I was looking used but what i found it the used price was the same as new. Maybe when there was a year wait more people where willing to pay it. with the shorter wait I just went new. in fact if i was watching the web site I could have bought a January date last week only a 2 month wait.

Not exactly...

Welllll, That's not exactly true. If you got everything that I have on my trailer on a new-order unit, I calculated that one would pay $2006 more.

We bought extras that were not on the build sheet as well, and/or were unique add on's. And the base price of the units have gone up as well. Plus, you would save either a drive or delivery costs, which could amass to several thousand dollars. There is a huge convenience factor as well for those in the Midwest or the East Coast. There is something to be said for accessibility!

But, to each his own. I certainly can understand the thrill of a brand new Escape!

Having owned first a used then new Escape I would agree that saving the travel costs coupled with a lower purchase price can be a good value. On our first trailer it was either buy used in Bend, OR, or drive up to B.C. We calculate we saved $2500 combined and the trailer still smelled new. Never had a problem either, whereas we've had to deal with a host of issues with the new one and even drive back to ETI with a laundry list before the warranty expired.

Wonder what the current exchange rate is doing to demand; which brings up another point: when the rate was approaching a 35-40% benefit U.S, many were ordering every option as they were so cheap.

Rossue,
You raise some excellent points. We've been watching the exchange rate, and it's just plain unpredictable right now. Also, your experience with a tried and true used unit versus a new one with glitches was interesting to be sure!

We would have much preferred to buy used near us in order to save that grueling trip. I had been scouring the ads and even put out a want ad, but nothing popped up. At least not near me!
But, since my son is stationed in Washington, we justified buying a new Escape by combining a visit to him.

I don't relish going through those mountain passes with the trailer ever again, however!

But, if ETI could somehow make a fiberglass toy hauler, I might consider it!

It is a lot cheaper to drive to Chicago than all the way to BC for a almost new trailer for anyone on the east side of the Mississippi and there is always the exchange rate issue, a lot of variables in considering buying used versus waiting. These Escapes hold up well to light use.

Llloooonnnnnggggg drive!

Quite true in all respects, CPA. Btw, how many times have you made the trip to Chilliwack? My husband joked that we could pick up a trailer for someone the next time we went to see my son in Washington. That is, if we decided to drive. But quite honestly, I don't know if my rear end could handle sitting for that long drive again! .
