Trailer name

I put us on the map for our Escape 19 to be picked up in September. I have never wished for a summer to go by fast in MN but we are very excited. We picked out a name for our trailer and it honors my 91 year old mother's Swedish heritage. " vår lilla stuga", meaning our little cottage. I hope that name wasn't used by anyone. At least the Swedish version of it.

Welcome and congratulations! Last summer we were in the same waiting game as you - it was so much fun dreaming and making decisions

We initially named our 19 "Our Little Cottage" but not in Swedish - that is so lovely. Glenn wanted to call it the COW (Cottage on Wheels) because at the time we had two cows and a hog (Kawasakis & Harley) in the garage, but I nixed that and it evolved into The Cottage. We are delighted to share the name with you and wish you all the best with your planning

Thanks Rosemary, in July our Escape will start to become a reality. It is really nice of Tammy to provide the photos during construction. We think we have our final build sheet close to be completed. At least all the major decisions they needed right away. We are still trying to decide between the opening and non-opening kitchen window. Decisions...decisions...

Enjoy your summer up in Victoria! We will be visiting relatives in Olympia in September.

I opted for a non-opening kitchen window on a whim and am glad I did. The screen and opening doo-dads really inhibit the amount of light coming through the window...the difference is really noticeable. In fact, I have yet to open the emergency window and am thinking of permanently removing the screen.

We decided on the non-opening window as well. Our reason was that the opening window is not dual pane (the non-opening is). Since we ordered the extra insulation & dual window option, we didn't want to compromise the integrity of the insulating factor.

We, like Karen, are really glad we made that choice. Going at night into the bathroom, even with it's opening window closed, can be shockingly cold in comparison.

One other option I saw somewhere on the forum was, instead of a window, a mirror was installed on the wall over the sink/stove. That seemed to be a really good idea for enhancing light and making it feel roomy.

We ended up taking the screen off the emergency window - the screen is awkward at best, and we found it more trouble than it was worth, but have it stored close by if we find we need it. (I hate bugs flying by my head at night...)
Mostly we just open different windows and have the fan when we need it.

Yeah, there is plenty of other opening windows. I see no need for the one over the sink to open either. I don't think we have ever had all the windows open. Two usually, and the odd time three, but never all five.

One thing I like about the opening window over the sink and in the bathroom is the style of window: they swing out at the bottom rather than slide. This means they can be left open in the rain without worrying about getting water inside.

Actually, with any wind at all, I would think they would let some rain in at the sides. I wish we had a window like that but for air. I just like the look of them. I know of someone who bought a Trillium because it has jalousie windows but they would let in more rain than he probably realizes. At least the one Escape uses has a fixed top portion.

I think it would take more than a slight wind to get rain in. That's just a guess though -- experience will tell. So far we haven't had any wind to speak of. Hasn't been a problem yet.

But we'll usually have the awning out on the kitchen side, and a little bit of rain in on the bathroom side isn't an issue (unless we start using the bathroom to hang jackets, like we're thinking).

Debra picked the name for our 19 yesterday.........."Bess". Seems like a logical name considering.
