When to send fabric, submit custom options, etc. To ETI

My "due date" for my 17B is April 11/17. I have the info from ETI as to when the build sheet is due, but is it too soon to be sending fabric, ordering flooring, and letting them know which Formica I've chosen? I've spent a ton of time choosing, and I'd hate to have something discontinued.

I don't see why not. My 19' is not due till March 16, but I've already bought the flooring from Pioneer Building Supplies in Chilliwack and they said they keep it in their warehouse until Reace needs it. I've also picked my Formica and am in the process of picking fabric, but haven't bought anything yet (keep changing my mind on colours!). I'll eventually email Sarah and let her know what I've picked, etc. I love this creative process!

If you're concerned about your choices being discontinued, it's not too early to send the fabric or order the flooring. They can always hold it for your build.

I'm agreeing with Robert, but I'd also ask ETI what they can/will do.

When I spoke with ETI earlier this year they suggested that, if possible, I hold off on having stuff sent to them until they move into their new digs. Space is limited for them right now and it would save them having to move things later.

Having said that, they said if I really had a strong urge to send stuff, they would accommodate my collection!

I would personally just call ETI and ask them , they are in the best position to give you the information. You could always buy the fabric and flooring in advance if you are concerned about it being discontinued and ship it to them when the time comes.

I, personally, wouldn't send anything to ETI until they ask for it. They will have another building, but it's gonna be a while as it wasn't very far along when I was there a few weeks ago. I think I just saw a bit of rebar sticking up out of the ground or some such. Definitely not any walls.

I don't know how they handle storage, but I imagine they wouldn't want tons of stuff sitting around for months on end.

For flooring, you can order from Pioneer Building Supply and they'll hold on to it for you. Jackie (the gal that orders flooring) said they're well used to holding on to flooring for months on end, until ETI needs it - good thing as ours has been there since Feb or so. By ordering now you won't have to worry about the supplier being out of stock for when you do need it, nor do you need to worry about it being discontinued when you do go to order.

For fabric - that stuff can hang around your house until you need to ship/deliver it to them. Mine has been hanging out in the attic for something like 7 months, at least. And will be for at least a few more months, until they need it.

Yeah, you may need to pay double shipping (to you and then to them), but at least that way you know you'll have what you want, in case it does get discontinued.

As already mentioned, asking ETI is the best. But I wouldn't worry about sending stuff this early, when your delivery date is next April (I think that's what the OP said; going off memory here). Why risk it getting lost or damaged or whatever during all that time. Just start a box or whatever at home and start stashing stuff in there. We won't mention how much of our attic has stuff stashed away for ETI and for when we actually get The Trailer.
