Word to the wise......

If you do buy the Camco cutting board, don't use the oven while the board is sitting on the metal stove cover. Some of the rubber on the bottom of the cutting board will stick to the metal. I tried removing it with adhesive remover but gave up and took the metal stove cover off. Now we just roll with the cutting board sitting right on the grill above the burners. Works find and never budges even on washboard dirt roads. Always remember to remove when oven is on tho.

No, too big for the stock 2 burner stove and for those with the stock 3 burner oven/stove, combo the top is removable, you push in at the hinge and it releases, in fact mine is in my basement, I sold my 21 with the wooden cutting board.

I've got several large, heavy wooden cutting boards at home, but the ones we use are the Epicurian. High quality and light weight. Don't need two hands to pick them up and move them to a counter top or the bed ( in our 17B ).
Epicurian come in many sizes, shapes and materials.

I built a stove cover/cutting board for our '19. It went over the stock two burner stove. Oak with a plastic cutting board.

It looked really nice and worked just as well. But we hated the stock two burner stove. So we replaced it with a three burner and got a cutting board to go on top. (Note that the sink somehow was magically transformed from plastic to stainless also. Go figure.)

This cutting board has a "sticky" rubber bottom which keeps it from sliding. (It was linked above.) It does tend to fly when moving though and we've come to taking it off when driving. The one mentioned with the feet looks interesting. Do the slots in the feet grip the stove grill? Are they adjustable?

Thanks.

I don't know if this applies with the oven option but with the two burner, if you don't intend to use the metal cover from escape you might want to tell them not to install it. Otherwise you end up with these holes in your counter top from the mounting screws.

We plan to do a cutting board cover so we had it left off of ours.

Currinh, I'm curious as to why you hated the 2 burner stove. Just not enough burners, or was there something else?

Why not use the 2-burner size?

One thing to remember with sanitizing cutting boards, is that wood cutting boards, especially in our trailers, will be much better. The reason is that wood cutting boards will dry out quite quick, and once dry all bacteria will die. Plastic cutting boards will develop cuts which the bacteria will live in much longer than wood, as it takes a long time to dry out. If plastic boards are put in a dishwasher to wash, the high heat does a good job of ridding them of the bacteria, but how many of us have a dishwasher in our trailers (other than the spousal kind )?

That said, a little bacteria will toughen our immune systems.

I always maintain this is a good idea. Often waiting until you get your trailer, and then determining what stuff works with it is much better. Your trailer will work fine without any of this stuff, most of which are just nice conveniences, and easy to add late.

I have a large wood cutting board that I use as a stove cover in Ten Forward. I've never used it to cut anything. I use it mostly to protect the Formica from high heat.. a big hot pad!

I have a bunch of flexible cutting mats. Easily stored and easily washed. Since I'm a fresh food eater, I chop a lot of food. The best part is I can "fold" up the cutting mat and fill a salad bowl easily without making a mess. Works for me!

I never knew that about plastic cutting boards - thanks for that -- We got the wooden cutting board that looks just like the one in the picture -- it was supposed to fit on a two burner stove and we really tried to figure it out (and Terry is usually pretty good with these things) but no way could we make it stay on with the legs. I still use it -- I like it -- I get more counter space -- but we take it off when we're traveling.

We keep a squeeze bottle of diluted bleach next to the sink at home. Plastic and wooden cutting boards get wiped down with the solution after cutting any meat, particularly chicken.
Dishcloth and scrubby sit in a container of diluted bleach when not in use.

Our stove top cover is quite heavy , so not good for every one for sure . ( we have no weight issues -started with our Liberty now Cherokee-more than needed for our 15) Although there are really nice and convenient boards here , I really prefer wood ,easier on the knives . I actually use the mouse cutting board shown .......
