A Camper helped Police Find Escaped Murderer

For those who haven't been following the story, two murderers escaped some time ago from an NY State Prison, and last night one of them was located, and killed when he refused to surrender. Turns out a guy in a camper provided a clue to his whereabouts:

"State Police Superintendent Joseph D'Amico told reporters the first clue to Matt's locale came when a driver towing a camper thought he heard shots fired at the vehicle and when he managed to pull off the road, about eight miles away, he discovered a bullet hole in the camper and called police.

Officers responding to what was believed to be the scene of the shooting entered a cabin and smelled gunpowder. A tactical team was immediately deployed into the nearby woods.

D'Amico said the team encountered Matt there and "told him to put up his hands and he was shot when he didn't comply."

Good news that they got one of them, but the other is still at large.

Wow, those were the two convicts who "Escaped"? I hope the shot up "camper" wasn't an "Escape". But you'd think an "Escape" would help them out to escape across the boarder. You know, back home to Canada.

Escape if you can.

A fantastic job by police in NY State. This second guy was a cop killer, and nobody would have questioned it if the police had killed him in the course of capture. Professional.

Folks in upstate NY can breathe a sigh of relief.

We have greatly appreciated how all of the Police agencies have worked together to bring to justice these 2 escaped killers. One killed a Sheriff Deputy by shooting him over 15 times after running him down with a car and the other killed his employer after torturing him and then dismembering his body and throwing the remains into a river, he was apprehended after stabbing a man to death in a bar fight in Mexico. We live only 20 minutes from the prison they escaped from and we have had a front row seat to witness how the last 3 weeks have played out. Everyone no matter where they live can breath a sigh of relief that these two are no longer roaming free.
