A Rare Event - Snow

It's snowing. I know for most of you that's nothing, but here it's a pretty rare event.

We got 6" of snow on Monday night . No one was injured , no one panicked , no emergency was declared , no schools were closed, and no one abandoned their vehicle on the freeway.
It's winter and in winter it snows , how else can you have a white Christmas ?
Enjoy the snow while you can since it may soon be gone.!!

Happy Holidays

For sure. It'll be gone tomorrow, with highs supposedly reaching near 60. It's snowed here maybe 3 times in the last 20 years.

James McMurtry included what happens in one of his songs.

And it’s damn near as deadly as Texans on ice
Lord don’t they beat all
Y’all have a nice holiday

And we have not had snow in ages. Getting scary dry around here. Temps are crazy high too. Was 11°C here today.

Still coming down. I don't expect it to be more than 2" total, but any snow here is special.

Two inches is five centimeters. Much more.

You're making that up, right? . Hope I am not seeing that when I get back down to Texas in a few days.

Nope, it's real. Storm is over now, just over 2 inches.
No worries Cathy, it'll be gone by 10 am tomorrow.

We also had flurries in northwestern Travis County. Probably 1/4" in all... a bit more in Austin. It was fun to see; it's especially unusual in December.

For what it's worth, my family members in Alpine, TX got over 6"

Let it snow!

RB, I thought about you and our conversation after hearing about the snow in SA!!! I couldn't believe it!
Here it was freezing yesterday, with snow flurries. And I was wishing I was back in central Texas, where it was supposed to be warm.
But, it looks like the cold weather was there as well. Were you in SA when it snowed back in the late 80s? 16 inches! I think there were over 400 car accidents in the span of an hour.
Hope things get back to normal soon.

Cheers!

I was in the military at the time, Addie, stationed in Little Rock AR. I think it was the winter of 86 you're talking about. They got a foot of snow on the Riverwalk - a once in 200 years event. Last night's was pretty rare though.

The roofs are already starting to poke through, and it'll all be melted away later today.

What happened to Global Warming? Snow in Houston? So much for that farce.

Global warming is that the globe is warming. It's nothing to do with you being cold because you have a snowball in your pocket.

yeah, global warming and everyone that's freezing focuses on the warming part. Climate Change is a better moniker.
