Breakfast Brats!!!

Hi: All here's a recipe I whipped up when a rally potluck supper was changed to Breakfast.
2 trays of Johnsonville Brats.
1 Spanish onion
1/2 lb. Bacon
1 bottle of Sauerkraut
Chop bacon and pre fry. Add to a dutch oven. Fry Lg. dice onion in bacon fat. BBQ Brats for grille marks and add to bacon, onions, and Sauerkraut in dutch oven. Simmer over low heat to warm Sauerkraut and finish cooking Brats. Take to potluck and carry home an empty pot!!!
Everyone wanted the recipe and I was to embarrassed to say there wasn't one. Alf

When I first read the heading: "Breakfast Brats" I thought the post would be about badly behaving children who were being difficult at breakfast.

Well, Alf:
I apparently wrinkled my nose as I was reading your recipe, but my wife saw, read the post, and assured me that it sounds very good.
Need I say, we'll be trying it out. (but not in the shower!)

Thanks,
Don

Hi: dfandrews... One lady at the potluck came up to me and said "I never really liked Sauerkraut... before"!!!
This recipe is my interpretation of a favorite Sunday Brunch item at Betty's in Niagara Falls. Betty's Restaurant Chippawa Niagara, Ontario, Canada They have one Polish and one Ukrainian chef. Their Cabbage Rolls are to die for too!!!
I use a Polish brand of Sauerkraut that has grated carrots in it as well.
The best I can say is "I haven't poisoned anyone yet". Alf

Carrots in the Sauerkraut - Yes

And then there's Polska Kielbasa. We have a friend whose family are 1st and 2nd generation immigrants from Poland, and their Polska is home-made, and the best!!!

My wife and I make homemade sausage ( brats ,chorizo,Italian, breakfast ,maple ,polish, beer sticks etc.) We often make bulk bratwurst and then make brat patties for breakfast or grilling
We also make homemade Kraut so the OP's recipe sounds really good to us Thank You

Hi: cpaharley2008... Here's one for you...
Grille the brats on the Q
Fry the sliced Spanish onion in butter
In a disposable alum. pan combine brats, fried onion and 2 cans/bottles of beer. Place pan in BBQ to heat thru and keep warm.
Serve brats on a bun with plenty of mustard and chopped onions. Enjoy Alf

Yup, we're fine, Pat, thanks. All my gutters are clean, leaves were raked up. Ventura County Flood control cleaned all the drainage ditches, etc. (as usual) throughout the county, so we're good to go. Rain started at 0610 hrs, 0.55" as of 1010 hrs. We're due for 1/2" per hour after lunch.

And the rest of you, quit grimacing! We've had 4" in the last year, so this is a big deal for us.

I never eat brats without a good helping of poutine to compliment them.

Edit: update--
4:30 pm - We're at 1.35". Heck, We even made the weather channel (although they mis-pronounced Camarillo, It's Cam- ar-E-o.)

And at about noon we had a 2.7 earthquake about 15 miles away. Didn't feel it, though!

Amen to the rain. I'm in Cupertino this week and the folks here are thrilled with a little wet stuff. Its been too long.
