Breakfast of champions....

In contemplation of the impending snow we are supposed to get (2-3") I decided that a hearty breakfast was in order, you know, the kind that sticks with you all day long. Anyway, I opened some Pillsbury Grand biscuits, heated up some sausage gravy and made some grits. Some hot coffee to top it off and I'm good. At least until supper where there is some left over chilli, which should go well with the left over biscuits. The second picture was after I decided to put some gravy on my grits....

Hi Jim
It’s snowing right along here today too. I stayed light for breakfast so when it stops I’ll be able to bend over far enough to get my boots on and go into snow removal mode. In the meantime, I started a large pot of Amish bean soup with some tomatoes, an onion and two ham bones from Christmas. I’ve got 7 gallons of high test gas for the blower in the shed and ought to have several more cubic feet under pressure around sundown. The three of us spent time yesterday figuring out a few routes for the Osoyoos run. Our friend Rand McNally who lives in a drawer in our house came out to give us some direction.

Put some scrambled eggs between the biscuit and the gravy and you'd have what we call around here "Redneck Benedict."

If I was on death row part of my last meal would include biscuits and gravy, YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!! One good thing about living in GA you can find that everywhere and all is good some just better than others .

One might only question the use of a fork, when a spoon gets into the corners of bowls and rounded sides of plates....but I'm assuming there are nekked biscuits hiding somewhere off camera that are waiting for sop up duty....

The fork was for removing the biscuits from the pan, definitely a spoon meal. For those interested in the plate....

Nice plate. I’ve never had biscuits and gravy off of China, mostly paper at mountain man Rendezvous and last fall at the Mississippi Rally at Steve Dunham’s site. Thanks Steve. Misty’s cafe in Keosaqua Iowa on the Des Moines River serves a nice recipe too. We need a restaurant thread called “ Best I ever ate, the Escape guide to cardiac camping cuisine.”

No you eat biscuits and gravy with a fork, the fork cuts the biscuit better because a perfect biscuit is just a little crunchy on the bottom. Now you ask with out a spoon how do you get all that gravy that's in any crack or crevice on your bowl or plate? That's easy what do you think your fingers and tongue are for, nothing better then licking good gravy off a plate. Just be careful with those deep bowls you might get some on the tip of your nose and that's embarrassing walking around like that all day .
I know several good biscuit places in GA, camping places too so let me know when headed this way.

If I can not get it with a fork, cold water will get it. You know the joke about cold water? An ol timer liver out in the sticks and when visited by relatives always said that the plates were cleaned with cold water. Finally one day one of the relatives say they were going to town and get a water heater. When stepping over the dog, the ol timer said, watch out, Coldwater will bite you if you step on him......
