Where do you find your beans, roasters, grocers, somewhere else? The only places I could get something, other then normal grocery items, like 8 O'clock, was 2 roasters, and 1 souvenir shop that happened to have a coffee bar and sold beans. All of these places had very very dark beans, whereas we buy a medium roast. The owner of one place mentioned that he used to roast them lighter but the locals all wanted it much darker.

We spent the winter in GA.

(Edit: Woohoo: 2000th post! do I get a free coffee.)
Congrats Don & Teresa,

most of my travel is in the west, and I've never had any issue finding whole bean coffee at a supermarket even in a smaller city. California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Utah, etc.

this is where I get it at home, a local wholesale roaster who also sells retail: Java Bob's Coffee Roasting, Santa Cruz, CA 95060 $12 per full lb, sure beats the boutique roasters at $18 per 12 oz.

In many parts of southern Ga it was hard just finding coffee shops, most are the gas station variety. Different part of the world, but I did find a lot of outstanding BBQ.
