cold weather sustenance

With it being so cold outside, it seems appetites are increasing. Made some old fashioned grits this am with ham, jalapeno peppers, cream corn and finally some pepper jack cheese. Hmm... hmm.. good, oh and a lot of butter

I thought you could only make grits south of the Mason Dixon line.

Extremely cold here as well, currently five degrees. We prefer the yellow grits over the white. They seem to cook up creamier than the white. We add link sausage, goat cheese, butter and sometimes an egg or two over medium on top. A breakfast that will stick with you for a while.

It's 32 below here this morning and we're having steak , eggs , hashbrowns with cheese , toast , V8 , and coffee for breakfast.
I don't mind grits but you have to add so much stuff to improve the flavor . Too much work.

It's 54°F here in Quartzsite, & all I'm having is a toasted bagel.

Since when did you need the temperature as an excuse to cook up a storm.

Todays offering, egg nog french toast, with it being so cold one stays in more and tends to eat more. Hopefully it will get warmer soon so that I can still fit through the door.......

Another nice twist to French toast is to use banana bread.
