Thanks! We are so happy to have upgraded from our pop-up Aliner to a real trailer. This Escape community has been amazing. Looking forward face to face meetings.

OK, my wife Anita has asked me to ask this. Are any of the quilters bring their sewing machines? Does anyone bring their sewing machines along with them? A little thread drift there.

My wife always has a sewing machine with her and quilts no matter where we go. We had our Escape 19 2013 equipped with solar and it provides enough power to run her portable class size machine with no trouble using an inverter from Canadian Tire. There is not enough power to heat an iron for pressing but often finger pressing is good enough until we get home or have access to external power.

Hi Steven and Anita. I won't be bringing my sewing machine to the rally since I won't have my trailer yet, but plan to bring it and many other craft supplies when I hit the road with my rig this fall.

I could possibly borrow Mom's Featherweight if we had any plans to use it but generally I don't- not a lot of room in a 15!

Bring it anyways, maybe we will do a little project somewhere like they do at the Bluebonnet Rally. I teach quilt classes at Joann"s and could teach a block or something, maybe do a vintage trailer applique.

Ok, this photo is just me showing off. I admit it. But I'm pretty proud of the quilt room I made Paula when we remodeled the basement in 2012. She spends many happy hours in it every week. "Happy wife, happy life"

Packing a machine on top of all necessary stuff to set up a new trailer could be a trick. Guess I will have to wait and see. I may have to just be an observer at the quilting group. However , later it sounds like great fun. There is always hand work to be done.

This was actually on the bedcovering thread but I'll update it here.

I set up my trial. I quilted a piece with cotton and one with wool, cut each into three strips, and labeled them. Machine warm, machine cold, hand (lukewarm). Machine warm is going, hand is washed and lying flat to dry (though how to do that with an actual quilt I don't know), machine cold is waiting. I just did diagonals on the quilt and like how that looks. Both were easy to quilt, maybe a bit easier with the cotton, but I didn't have my walking foot on for either.

Results: hand wash samples look alike but are taking a very long time to dry!

Warm and cold machine wash, cotton, look alike, both look fine. Warm machine wash wool also looks good, maybe a bit more wrinkly but the batting is intact and it looks good. All of those were machine dried on delicate. Cold machine wash wool is being dried flat so I can compare. At this point I'm leaning towards wool.
