Winter is certainly hanging on this year. My parents live in England (South) woke up to 15 cm’s the other day. Very unusual for them.

A little warmer here and it's warm enough to start feeding the fish. So they come out from their hiding spots if there's food available.

The pond's messy, it will get a good Spring clean out, but lot's of stuff has survived the ice and is starting to grow.

The orange/white fish is a real survivor. It had a large flap of skin hanging down and covered in fungus. Put it an isolation tank and went away for a couple of weeks. Still alive when I came back. Prepped my wife how to hold it while I did a bit of surgery. 3 years on and it rules the pond.

My rhubarb leaves are trying to fill out. I guess anyday Baglo's going to post photos of his giant leaves. sigh.

Rhubarb poked through the snow a couple weeks ago. Not impressive enough to get the camera out yet though.

The Kloubec Koi farm is about 17 miles south of us. He’s a pretty big name in Koi. He used to offer tours but I’m not sure now. Check out his website. Where else can you get a Carp with a paint job for $1,500?

I'm too cheap to buy expensive Koi. All my goldfish start out as 29 cent feeder fish.

Spring! So hopeful. Haven't checked our rhubarb but did see some iris and daylilies up next to some protected and sunny cement block areas. Cracked out the gin to celebrate when we heard migratory geese overhead and the hopeful red wing blackbird songs. Spring is in the air. Thank goodness!

Lovely temperatures here, but still a schwack of snow to be melted. A record for snow this year, and here I missed most of it when down south.

Rhubarb is up. Asparagus is up, too! Raspberries are leafing out. I've been building new raised beds and it will be planting time when they're done. I don't have any but I can see apple blossoms from here.

The prize winners from competitions in Japan can sell for a lot more than that .Myron Kloubec (k low beck) (Czech) used to come in where I worked after I retired from the city. He’s very proud of his operation. If you read his website, you’ll note the paralells between Myron Kloubec and Tammy and Reace even though they are a world apart. I used to buy grass carp from him to keep weeds and algae out of city ponds. About $9 for an 8 incher. We had koi in the greenhouse pond. They would eat out of the regular employees hands. One got to about 3 lbs. We sold her for $600. My neighbor had a koi pond in front of his house. They all disappeared. A few days later I saw a nice sized mink on the south end of our property running for the waterway in the beanfield. Hmmmm?
