Austin TX has music and fireworks, downtown on the shores of Lady Bird Lake, but we never go - like you, we stay home and cede the roads. It helps, though, that we can see for miles and miles off our balcony, and at midnight, some years, there are (amateur) fireworks all along the lakeshore. They last about 15 minutes and should be good this year since we've had lots of rain for several months. (I don't expect folks will hold back.)

Also, we drink our champagne toast early, to the last sundown of the year. It makes the rest of the evening more festive.

Happy New Year, y'all.
