Just think Dave, if I had married that girl from Douds,Ia that I was seeing while at Parsons, we would be neighbors today.

Looks like a TV tube tester and the X-Ray machine where you could see the bones of your feet as you checked the fit of the shoes at the shoe store and at the same time got a nice dose of radiation in your midsection.

If I had kept my JC Higgins bike, it may be worth what the Escape costs.....and if my parents had not given away my train set?

Hi: cpaharley2008... I'm just "S old". I brought a LP home from England as the cover was banned in NA. My parents gave it away cause I left it when I got married. I didn't have a record player. Alf

X-ray machine for feet

Just saw one 2 weeks ago in Grand Junction, Colorado. It was original from one of the local shoe stores, I used it frequently as a kid. Of course as a kid I did a lot of things I would not allow my kids to do when they were young, 35 to 40 years ago.

My uncle had the X-Ray machine in his collection building. I think he had one of my cousins disable it as he realized the radiation was not good. I believe it's probably still there. My cousins daughter now owns all the treasures. The display of the tube tester etc on this forum gets my competitive juices flowing. At a rally we could have a "what is this" contest with items that are reasonably identifiable " formerly massed produced", with a one bottle of beer entry fee. Winner ( unidentifiable by the others) takes all. Jim, I've hunted down around Douds but never hunted women. Which is why I'm still alive today.

Some of the old ways I definitely don't miss were medical and dental procedures. Remember cavity drilling without novocaine? I remember sitting in the chair, gripping the chair arms with all my might waiting for the dentist to hit the nerve if he had to go deep enough. Kind of like a sweepstakes you really didn't want to win. And the line of similar aged kids at the Dr's office getting our "shots", with those "resharpened" needles? Now I go in for a flu shot and with my usual babbling with the nurse, I often don't even know that it's already done.

But also long gone are the Dr's who made home visits.

I keep getting reminded of how old I am with all of the ads I get for retirement homes, hearing aids, and cremation plans. Waiting are they? Well damn it, let them wait. Loren
