MP4 movie downloads

For those of you that watch movies in your Escape:

Does anyone download MP4 movie files and if so, which is a good site?

Thanks,

I've not done it but, Netflix?
https://www.imore.com/netflix-now-le...ows-and-movies

I've been dragging around a 7" Toshiba DVD player. Can watch DVD on it or connect via cord to my TV. It lives under the bed with a selection of DVDs that I've been dragging around for three years, but never watched.

Thanks! This seems to download to the movie to a phone app, which is great.
I was thinking more of downloading the movie to a large portable SSD drive, so I could plug it into my TV USB port.

Guess you'll have to buy yourself an iPad Fred.
Or, can you connect with Bluetooth?

Huge difference between someone who camps and someone who full-times. Just as there is between people who camp as a couple and someone who solos. Different strokes for different folks.

That is true. And, my post recounts my experience.

I do have a DVD player, but have found that plugging in a device into the USB port of our tv is so much simpler. Someone gifted me a thumb drive with some movies on it and I thought that would be a great way to store movies without carrying all the DVDs around.

Ab-So-Loot-Leeee!!! Not to say we are TV addicts, but when we get the itch to watch a flick, I sure would like to have choices without carrying a stack of DVDs or trying to run down a Redbox.

We also download Netflix shows and movies on our large iPads before we leave home.
If you don’t have a iPad you can also do the same on your laptop. Many laptops now have an HDMI output so you can also watch it on a large screen.
Downloading a movie is surprisingly fasting if you have to borrow internet at a library etc.

Also, if you are camping in the "winter" in southern states, although its often warm during the day time, it still gets dark pretty early and cools off quickly and if you are away for five or six weeks at a time, its nice to have some choice in entertainment.

If you have a VPN and want to go the torrent route then use https://www.imdb.com/ to find a movie you want, then either https://zooqle.com/ or https://pirateproxy.live/ to find a torrent. Download to your pc and copy to a stick. If you need to change format from AVI or MKV to MP4 use VLC media Player.

But then, don't you have to watch it to make sure it's not dubbed or sub-titled and that the movie is complete rather than ending abruptly in sea of pixels?

With a little experience you get to know which are good torrents. Most subtitles and dubs can be "turned off" with VLC media player. Torrents originating in Russia or Korea are best avoided as the tend to have subtitles and dubbing "hard" coded and hence not able to be turned off. Quality of files is usually included in title names, such as 720 1080, DVDrip, BluRay etc. again with experience you sort the wheat from thhe chaff.

If you have a Samsung tablet or phone that has SmartView capability (it is shown on the pull down menu where you select wifi, etc) then you can buy a Microsoft Display Adapter ($35 or so) that plugs into the TV. Then you download a movie to your tablet or phone and it displays on the TV. No wifi connection needed other than for the original download which might be at the library.

If you are using cellular data to stream the movie to your phone or tablet it will also display on the TV. No additional data connection is needed for the adapter. The adapter allows the TV to mirror whatever is displayed on your tablet or phone.

Note that Chromecast has a mirroring function, but it requires the chromecast to connect to a wifi router to work. The Microsoft Display Adapter works directly off the tablet or phone.

I have an $8 OTG cable (on-the-go cable) with an HDMI port. With that, I can connect my Samsung Note4 phone to a TV or computer monitor. It also has USB ports that allow connection of a thumb drive or portable hard drive to my phone for additional storage. I've even used it to connect a keyboard and mouse to my phone.

Good Morning All,
Have to admit my first laugh of the day, about the stripper pole. LOL LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think for many of us being connected digitally to something is ingrained in us at this point. I've been watching a lot of boon docking you tube videos and no most of them don't worry about TV but all have cellular and wifi so sure they use it for entertainment it as well.
One thing I will need to get more savvy at is electronics and all the things available to us today. We still do what is considered old fashion I guess DVD player and a few movies on hand. Rainy days or maybe curled up in bed and fall to sleep to one is about the only time we use it. We enjoy seating outside and listening to some of our favorite music and even that we do on a radio.

Safe and fun travels to all,

Steve

Good option. As with any device, not every phone or tablet supports the cable or the adapter. But for $8...what can go wrong?
