I couldn't get past the author's comment on refrigeration:

"It takes a lot of juice to run the refrigerator—or a lot of propane. So since I'm longterm boondocking, I'm using the Airstream-provided Tommy Bahama Relax cooler to keep my eggs, milk and seltzer on ice rather than returning to the propane station every few days. Having said that, the voluminous refrigerator is set up for a very wet long weekend of relaxing, if you know what I mean".

For me, it's remembering Jeff, who started this Forum, selling his Escape and getting an Airstream that had been his dream. He later sold the Airstream and said something to the effect of it not matching the quality of his Escape.

$83467! and that's minus some options.
But it does have the whiff of exclusivity.
But the bawanna 5th wheels and class A's will still look down on it I imagine.

Hi: thoer... I remember Jeff had a blow out which caused a lot of body damage... After all it is still a "Tin can" no matter how much you pay. Alf

I'm just glad we all have choices. I like some of the layouts in some of the Airsteams, but that not only comes at a price, but weight and width and $$$$. I like to look, but no longer dream of... maybe.... I have my forever now. I hope you find yours too.

I don't think Airstreams are a Molded Fiberglass Buyer. It's more a down-size for traditional trailer buyers, we're a different market and weight and hail damage don't appeal to our buyers.
It is interesting that Airstream is offering a smaller lineup option and may soon pop the Nest version which will be smaller yet.

Pretentious nonsense to me, but to each his own.

Yeah. And something about the author's writing style just rubs me the wrong way.

The author of the article seemed far more pretentious than his trailer. IMHO

I've had a 19' Airstream, 17 foot Casita, and now a 19' Escape. My least favorite was the Airstream. Bill

I think that Airstream had a great early history with a founder who was truly a traveler. There was a caravan in Africa. The Airstream was one of the early beginnings of the RVing trend. The fact that they have certain problems or limitations should not take away from that, nor should their classic status detract from it. Many looking into RVs check them out and simply find that they are not quite a fit. But they have an enviable history.

And a great history it is too. Kinda better than the egg history for all-molded towables in North America starting with a septic tank

And yeah, I know a few were around in limited production before Boler, but still

Yes, i was going to say that maybe Boler has an interesting history. All of those Boler descendants. And they will be having their big shindig next year.

The step is made by Thule in Sweden. Too bad it seems like yet another high quality RV item that is not available through a retail channel in the US.

Right. Another one only offered to the OEM market is the Dometic acrylic awning windows that Lance uses. It opens really wide and has built in draw down screen and lift shade.
Then of course a lot of quieter and discreet furnaces not available to the retail market.

Donna - some of us don't know about the septic tank reference?

Believe he built fiberglass septic tanks and then went to trailers.
