This is a very cool trailer for the right buyer, but myself, I much prefer the Nest for how we would use either. While both of these are great looking, well thought out trailers for the size, they are still not for me, even if they were cheaper.

It seems they do a great job insulating the walls and floor, but those huge windows, which seem to be only single glazed, will be a big source for heat loss, unless I missed something. Robert had said the Nest would have, or at least be able to have, dual glazed windows.

The hubs and brakes ARE standard if you read through all of the literature.

Ok... I think I am in love with the new Basecamp, or at least a bad case of lust.

If the Basecamp was within my budget I would buy one in a minute, but unfortunately it's not. It would be cool if the shell was fiberglass.

Here is my option on the kitchen.... For the way my wife and I camp, the Basecamp's kitchen looks to be very functional. I have always been drawn to campers with front kitchens - don't know why. I have seen campers which devote significant space to large kitchens, which for us is wasted. We do all of our cooking outside, with the prep done inside.

I remember looking at the Basecamp when it first came out (2009 ish) and I thought it had potential. However, the first ones were too utilitarian even for me.

I agree: Airstream seems to list items that are not on the trailer with a dash ("-"), so the Nev-R-Adjust brakes are standard (STD) but the Nev-R-Lube hubs are not available (-).

They're listed as possible features; where are the Nev-R-Lube hubs shown as standard?

I think it is fine, given the space they had to use. I imagine the majority of folks would cook outside most of the time.

I do design quite a few kitchens a year, but even the smallest ones have 10 times the space of the biggest Escape kitchen. Heck, most kitchens we do cost way more than any loaded Escape would as well. We have done a few lower cost ones, but they are far from the norm.

My brother was looking at a new Airstream. I think it was a new model that didn't need a tow vehicle. Kind of a hybrid trailer.

This tire size is suitable for a 3500 pound capacity axle, and is a couple of inches taller (in overall diameter) than the ST205/75R15 used by Escape.

I submitted a query to Airstream about the tires, and received this reply:

Scroll on down to the 255/55R18 tire.

The Goodyear Assurance CS Fuel Max is an all-season tire usually used for SUVs; it is not an ST (Special Trailer) model. This particular tire spec is a Euro-metric size in Extra Load version:
255/55R18 109H XL
load capacity 2,271 lb @ 50 psi
