Next gen Battery tech of note: Al-ion?

Aluminum battery from Stanford offers safe alternative to conventional batteries

While obviously years away from production, this looks promising for the RV community.

My take aways from article: safety (no volatile chems), quick charging for those not so sunny days and longevity.

That is an interesting new technology. The models they are using will produce 2 volts so they will apparently use them in batches (much like those of us having dual 6 volt batteries) to generate the necessary voltages. An example of usage is where solar power might be stored, there is a limit to the number of times current flooded batteries can be discharged and recharged, I think in the low thousands. These can be charged and recharged in the tens of thousands.
