Jim, can I assume that you put your Andersen Ulitmate 5th Wheel Connection coupler on the Rustler, so you have had a chance to try that out?

Yes I certainly did. Worked great. It takes a minute tops to install it, just 3 bolts to tighten. The pin adapter took 5 minutes tops to install, but that is a one time thing. With the offset to the rear, I can do a full 90° turn with a 96" wide trailer.

Thanks Jim - good to hear.

Is the plan still to use it flipped around to the front with the 8" narrower 5.0TA? Of course you don't need to decide yet, and the Rustler will give you some good experience with the pin weight in the rearward position.

Brian - When I had my Scamp 19, the ball was actually @ 3-inches behind the axle. Pin weight probably somewhat less than the Escape, but with my previous F150 it did not alter the handling or steering stability whatsoever, and when I switched to the 5.0TA, it was still not a problem. The Scamp hitch had to be installed in that position for clearance between the bumper and the trailer. My new F150's hitch rails are in the "proper/conventional" position.

Lisa spent the day cleaning out the trailer, and I spent a couple hours going through all the systems. Other than having to fire the fridge up a few times on gas before it stayed on, everything works great. The water heater drain plug (no anode) was out, with it bypassed, and I don't think it has ever ran, it looks just like new, and no evidence of there ever being flames. Two access ports that were on the open side in storage, the power inlet and water fill, could both be changed, but that's it.

Inside, other that a bit dated, it is in very good shape, and the only thing not great is the floor. There is one bad spot where a piece was poorly patched in, and there is glue staining on it in places. I think I will just do a quick and easy vinyl plank floor.

The only other thing we want to do is to put in a MaxxFan, as the noisy ones they have will drive us crazy.

Oh yeah, and the tires. Man oh man, they look brand new. It sure seems a shame to change them, but I know it is best.
