Rain, rain, and more rain....

Over the past 3 days we have received over 6" of rain and more is expected. Local flooding is prevalent. It wakes us up at night with the lightning and thunder. All the animals huddle together, I got up at 3 and went to basement and elsewhere, checking for leaks, so far okay. Made some chow and watching news....more rain 4-5" expected all week. Everyone be careful out there....

The Spam looks good, the bacon and toast are burnt, and the coffee is polluted.
Have to fix Jim a good breakfast next time I see him.

We are getting some good rain here too, but nothing to outrageous forecast.

Jim , I know how you feel . We got 6 to 8 inches rain about a week and a half ago
The rain washed a Dam out so with that and the rain , the two major highways here were flooded / closed , a couple of bridges were out , the Main Street in town was under water ,the trees are tipping over cause the ground is soft / soggy and the level in our lake went up 18” going over the top of our boat dock
The lake level is just starting to drop , but everything sure is green

April and May were unusually dry in the Florida Panhandle; my ponds almost dried up. We have had plenty of heavy rain since then, though, and the ponds are full again.

Right now it's sunny and mild in Oshkosh, WI. Lots of noise from airplanes, though..

Like you need to tell us folks what rains like up here in rainy Vancouver, where as the folks back East like to say, it's always raining.

Or not. The sun beats down unmercifully every day and I'd love to see some rain.

I made a new pergola and tried a sunscreen mesh. It's not enough screening for me. So I've got 18 yards of Sunbrella fabric to install today. Shade, I need shade.

I was in Binghamton, NY yesterday and got the same off & on heavy rain all afternoon & night. A bit less for the drive up I 81 between Binghamton & Syracuse this morning, with light to heavy rain. When I hit Oswego, there were only clouds. My rain gauge shows .11 inches overnight with .42 inches over the last 7 days. Somehow most of it missed us...

Wish these kind of trades could happen. I have friends in Colorado & offered to trade them part of Lake Ontario for just one of their 14ers (they have 58 of them and I find it hard to believe they would miss one). We are not quite as flat as Florida, but there isn't much in the way of mountains on the shores of Lake Ontario. They do need the water...

Look at this way, Jon, if it wasn't for those mountains, we would not have the lakes......

A man who participates in a local ham radio net in northwest Florida always signs off by saying "...from the highest mountain in Florida!" He lives near the small town of Paxton, and the highest elevation is a bit over 300 feet asl. I told him that his signal was so strong because it was rolling downhill to the rest of us.
