I am getting a chuckle out of how some folks refer to tent trailers as popups. I kinda envision pushing a button, and VOILA, it all pops into place.

We never had a leak problem with our Coleman tent trailer, it worked quite good. HUGE beds but not much living space, but we were outside all the time other than for sleeping. It even had a built in outdoor stove that slid out the side. The biggest drawback we found was the time to set up and tear down for a quick stop over, and always hoping that the rain would stop so we could stow the fabric dry.

Amen to that. The time involved, and the complications caused by weather are the main reason my Dad got rid of his Coleman, and went with a '72 Aristocrat Land Commander, very similar to the one in the photo. I remember many happy camping trips to southern Utah in it, and many fishing trips to Scofield and Strawberry reservoirs.

I'll never forget my Dad's words when he first saw our Escape 19 on our way back from Chilliwack: "Holy crap!"

From lifetime of backpacking to a Molded Fiberglass trailer medley with one stop at the "dark side." SOB was a Trail Cruiser Bunk House model and only lasted two years before we got back in molded glass with the Escape 17b and now the Escape 19. Still currently have the Scamp 19 as well. At the moment, we're planning that the Escape 19 is our last stop on this journey.
Left to right is 81 Scamp 13, 2005 Trail Cruiser, 2005 Escape 17b, 1996 Scamp 13, 1997 Scamp 19, and 2015 Escape 19

That's quite a run of white trailers, mostly fiberglass. Interesting to see them all in their natural environment. Thanks for posting

Frist 2 pictures are of a 1999 Aliner Alite, pulled by a Dodge Neon. We went every where with it.

Next is a 2004 Chalet 16ft high wall. We only had it 9 months! Had so many problems that the dealer gave us what we paid for it in trade on the next one.

Before that we had a couple of sears canvas tents, until 1989 when I bought a Eureaka canvas wall tent for $100.00 at a end of season sportsman fair. My son still uses it when camping with his boys.

Not sure if this counts as a 'RV', but I'm going from a roof top tent to an Escape. The RTT served it's purpose for sure and saved me many a hotel bill. 2 minute setup and about four or five to take down. Was very good for short excursions, camping on crown land, or a Walmart parking lot on the way to somewhere.

Went from a tent to a 4X4 truck and pop up truck camper for my dog. He likes his creature comforts. Then we ordered an Escape trailer so we can camp and go exploring or shopping without having to take the campsite down and put it back up when we came back. I'm keeping both the camper and the trailer since they both have their strong points.

We went from a tent to a 23 foot Terry, back to a tent. Then a Casita FD. I don't expect to change from the Escape.

Until we pickup our palatial Escape 19, this is still our road residence. It always generates lots of questions, interest and a few smart ass remarks. We do love and appreciate its many virtues. A dry queen size bed off the ground. Engel compressor fridge/freezer. Plenty of storage and another roof rack for play toys. Fits in the garage. Not so much fun on those poor weather days and I have never been able to sell my wife on the pooh bags.

saw many of those type campers at an rv show..impressed with the design of many in that they cram a lot of functionality into a small space..downside after crawling in one , this camper had difficulty getting out!

First- many tents, big family ones and small backpacking ones, Boy Scout tents, etc.
Then- 1986 Coleman tent trailer- many, many miles and great trips with kids growing up
Then- 2005 Fleetwood/Coleman tent trailer- youngest kids finished growing up
Coming soon- 2017 Escape 21'

We loved the tent trailers and yes, experienced all the downsides too. But lots of room, big beds, and up off the ground with great ventilation. Lots of great memories. Now just the wife and I and sometimes grandkids, so looking forward to the Escape and making more memories. Guess you could call me semi-retired now, but still enjoying my work, just not as much of it.

Well, yeah, the dog needs a place to sleep when he starts snoring big time!

I believe that on a visit to ETI about a year or two ago that Tammy said there is a family from northern Washington State that has owned every Escape Trailer model, from 13 up to 5.0TA. I believe they were in finalizing the purchase of said 5.0TA at that time. And I think the son was purchasing his own Escape trailer at the same time.

Could be worth asking the question to Tammy at ETI if anyone is really interested in finding out??

Roof leak, cabinets and counter tops falling apart. Stick built junk. Roof was junk and it's what push me to wanting a fiberglass shell over our head and into the Casita. Our pop-ups (tent trailers) were much better campers and never leaked.

I just remembered-- I had a previous RV, sort of: I lived in a 28-foot travel trailer while I was in college, which my dad bought from a neighboring farmer for 15 cow/calf pairs and a bull. The only "traveling" I did in it was when we towed it home in the summers so I could work on the farm between academic years.

I expect that that is Linda. Where did you get to, Linda, with that 5.0TA?? Is it the best or what?
