Have you ever been to Saltspring Island? It might suprise you to know that they do have doctors and dentists there. You may have to go to Victoria or Nanaimo to see a specialist.
I know a few older seniors who live on Saltspring and they consider that a minor inconvenience. They just love it there.

I agree, Saltspring has a great hospital. We have 3 sets of friends that live on Saltspring. One set is my age (64) another is 74 and the oldest just tuned 83 (still hikes like a trooper). They all love Saltspring and are wondering why it is taking my wife and I to take so long to make a decision. Got love market day where you can buy any potion that will fix any ailment you have!

I maybe leave the island once or twice a year, no real reason to leave except for our Escape vacation coming up this summer. Yeah the ferry cost will suck, but hey, it’s my vacation . It’ll be lthe equivalent of a couple extra tanks of gas in the ole Tundra.
Also I’ve probably shovelled snow just a couple times a year, taking no more than a couple minutes. You’ll have to prepare for hefty home prices, deadly Colwood traffic if you live in the west shore, and a vitamin D supplement in the winter, lol. Warning, we don’t have an IKEA.
NO IKEA!! Another reason to move to Victoria

Saltspring has a hospital, but, do you have bike lanes?

Bike lanes not so much, I guess that is why they have the hospital

What about Nelson? Has a free ferry to Crawford Bay and then access down to Spokane for Yankees.
Edit: Of course you dont need to do that to go to Spokane.
