Or if you're cheap like me, you can cut up some scrap plywood into
6x6 stabilizer pads - Simple addition to the metal stabilizer pads, using (2) 1/4-20 carriage bolts/stop nuts. They're easy to replace when worn, and preserve the life of the metal pads.

Hi Don The problem with that , the ply will absorb moisture . What you are trying to avoid . You could get cheap plastic cutting boards . I think IKEA had some for 1.49 and cut those up . I had these already and they are a little different . One side is flat , the other is not . These are supposed to be UV . I have had them a couple years and still look good .Cut handles off . I drilled into them , used the 2 screw holes already in metal jack pads with stainless little bolts , washers and lock washers . Pat

I usually put a four-stack under each rear jack on our 19, since the rear jacks start out a little higher. They're easier to pack up that way as well.
Parker never needed to use more then one on each jack foot . I guess if I needed more height would just use my other stacking pads . So far haven't needed too . Pat

Pat, I like that - cheap plastic cutting boards! Thanks.
So, when these wear out, that's what I'll do.

P.S. I did do 2 coats of KilZ, and then 2 coats of my all-purpose exterior paint made from the remnants of three different colors. (I did mention the word "cheap".)

Aw, ....OK.
(I see that the correct word to use is "inexpensive", not cheap.)

How did things go with the Shelves That Slide folks? Does it look good for some custom Escape offerings?

Cutting boards work. I did it to keep my asphault driveway from being damaged from sticking to feet after long sitting on driveway. Wood blocks also stuck. Also put a whole cutting board under tongue jack. Worked well. No missing chunks this year.

Hi Carl . Yes the cutting boards will work . The difference with the yellow jack pads is the top of them is flat . The bottom of them have grids . Maybe that helps more then being flat , for water not sitting under them . Just my guess . But much better then wood though . Pat

I'm sure that these pads are designed with a grid-like structure just to have enough strength while avoiding excess material and the resulting cost and weight. Open cells facing up will collect water and dirt, so facing down is better... but can be problematic on some surfaces.

Brian now have used them 2+ years . Everything from dirt ,concrete , asphalt and little gravel or rocks . Still look like new and are still yellow . Just installed them to foot pads to save a step putting them down and picking them up . Now if I only had motors to lift jacks up . Pat

That's what the 12v drill/driver is for, with one of these.

I only use the stabilizers while camping and leave them up while storing. I figure if I have a flat tire while in storage it could put torque on the stabilizers. I do put boards under the tires so they don't stick to the pavement. May change them for cutting boards though, as that sounds like a good idea.

Yes, that's what I use with my DeWalt cordless drill but I also have a 10" or so extension to reach the stabilizer.
