Do we have to wait until after noon to start celebrating?

I had a great City Manager when I worked in Council Bluffs, Iowa. We both had some tough days, especially those hot, humid dog days in August. He'd see me park and come into City Hall in the late afternoon and ask me about my day. I would catch him up and tell him I was about ready for a beer. He'd usually say, " Helll, they've been drinking for five hours in the Azores, better get out of here.

When in school I had the best summer job in the world. Earned my tuition working on the 5th floor (parts dept.) of the Pabst Brewery in Newark. My boss, old Joe Logan (originally from Milwaukee) was a popular character. We didn't have coffee breaks. We had beer breaks. Twice a day the steam fitters or the electricians, brought fresh beer up on the freight elevator.

Bennett is apparently buying so I'm in!

Myron, about 1/2 of the fathers in my childhood neighborhood in Peoria worked at Pabst. I always thought that the talk of being able to drink during the work day was a myth. Then later I had a job at a sheet metal business that did a lot of work for Pabst, in fact they had two guys who were always there. And it was indeed true and those two guys were definitely the envy of everyone else a the shop.

Imagine any insurance company allowing somewhere they insure to do that now?

Today is liable to be the warmest day of 2016 so far today in Portland. I'm IN... after I mow the lawn and kill some weeds

Yep, at my Pabst the lunch room had free beer on tap, in bottles and cans, 24/7 and Eric, I never ever saw anybody drunk. That fresh beer was pure nector!

Most definitely I am, but the kicker is that you need to come to Calgary to receive it. Rain checks are allowed.

I need a good day to burn our area we are establishing native prairie on. We haven't gotten to burn the last 2 years as we've gone from wet wet wet, to dry and high winds, to oops too late now.

Sure I would like a beer about now although it's an hour until noon here.

Just walked the dog, just about froze, walked by the trailer, one side is covered in ice pellets, the poor Escape just spent two months in the south, now it's exposed to the MB spring that's forgotten to come I'm sure Alf (and Robert who got stuck in Southern ON - where winter is still around) will concur. Wish like Donna I could be out weeding, but they wouldn't come out of our frozen ground. Oh, well at least it's going to be sunny tomorrow but a high of only minus 2C (tonight will be minus 12).

Eric, Rita and I burned our little prairie about three weeks ago, getting a green up now. I mowed on Monday, turf is looking good, I applied 21-3-21 with 75% uflexx nitrogen stabilizer and a little iron in November and am getting a nice reaction now yet. My adjacent farmer signed up for the pheasant restoration planting program and is putting about 10 acres next to us into grasses for the next ten years minimum. Spring is coming, I promise. Been hitting a few auctions, wish I would have bought that big roll of wire, might have to run a kegerator circuit.

Sorry to hear of your temperature woes, Adrian.

Here we are suffering the opposite problem. Tomorrow's forecast high is 24°C (75°F). Shorts, sandals and light t-shirts are required to prevent an inevitable melt.
