Super Blue Blood Moon Eclipse
This January 31, 2018, between about 3:00 and 6:00 AM (approx.), the full eclipse of the January Blue (and Super) Moon will be visible in Western North America. Those in the East still get a view of the partial eclipse. Check out the details for your area here:
https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/...018-january-31
About 4:30 a.m., you just might find us sitting in 53°F weather, right outside our Escape 17A.

as a long time amateur astronomer, let me say, this event is being rather overhyped. lunar eclipses aren't very exciting, it takes hours for the moon to slowly dim and redden, at my location on the central california coast, the totality phase starts about 5pm and ends about 6:30pm, and the moon sets shortly thereafter, at the same time as the sun rises (about 7:15am) at 5 or 6am on the left coast there's a high probability of overcast. a 'blue moon' is simply a 2nd full moon in the same month, this will happen any time the first full moon is during the first couple days of the month, it typically happens an average of once a year. a 'super moon' is a full moon near perogee, when the moon is slightly closer to the earth, so it appears to be a few percent bigger, without measurement equipment, you'd never know. yes, all three of these happenign at once is unusual, but there's not really much to see.

Or, in my experience, "what has brown done for you"?
Not close to red.

Just finished totality here. We were blessed with clear sky, and, we could look right out our window. We're just now seeing the first white sliver, as the eastern sky is brightening. When you imagine what is going on and what it takes to produce that immense shadow, you get quite the picture of where we are.
