The end of an era.....

Sadly, we had to put Franklin down today, he would have been 15 next month. There is a giant void right now in my life and heart. Franklin has traveled with us for the past 14 years and up to the end he was a perfect companion A rescue black lab dog we obtained in 2004 he went on our first trip in 2005 when he went to Sturgis and he continued to travel through our HyperLite, Roadrunner, T@da, Lance and Escape Trailers. He traveled from New York down to Virginia in 2008 when we picked up Hershey, a disabled chocolate Lab. He taught her how to walk as she only hopped. I always felt safe with him as his bark was worse than his bite. I estimate he had 40,000 miles under his paws and he never took me out of his sight, until the end. God bless him and we will unite again, one day.

So sorry for your loss, we lost one last August. It's never easy, but they are so worth it

Franklin

Hi Jim and Noelia,
So sorry to hear about Franklin. Good dogs like Franklin become family. See you in a couple months. Here’s a pic from Scott County Park on Oct 1,2016.
Sincerely
Iowa Dave

I'm so sorry for your loss! It is never easy losing a loyal friend! No one can love you as much as a dog.

Sorry for your loss, Jim, but it's for the best. I regret waiting as long as we did to have Charlie relieved of her pain.

I feel for your loss.

We had to put our Maggie-the-Yellow-Lab down last month, she was 12 in December, and in January came down with a slight limp that rapidly got worse, vet diagnosed her with serious bone cancer, and within a few weeks she was in so much pain she could barely get around even with regular doses of Tramadol and anti-inflamatories, so now she's in doggie heaven.

sweetest dog we ever had, raised from a pup.

sad times going through this. Dogs are the definition of unconditional love. No one knows us better. Our condolences to all who loved him back.
We are dogless now and there is an empty space in our lives. Having two dogs when this happens does help a bit. Remember all the good times you enjoyed together.

I found this,,, author unknown

"I was just a pup when we first met, I loved you from the start...
You picked me up and took me home and placed me in your heart...
Good times together, we shared all what life could throw...
But years passed all too quickly, my time has come to go...
I see how much you miss me, I know your heart is sore...
I see the tears that fall when I not waiting at the door.

You always did you best for me
Your love was plain to see,
Even thought it broke your heart
You set my spirit free.
So some day we will meet once more,
for when you are called to Heaven,
I'll be waiting at the door."

So sorry Jim and Noelia to hear of Franklin heading to that big kennel in the sky. We know you will miss him dearly.

Part of the family

Jim, so sorry about your loss of Franklin. Last fall when we put Chico down, the time when we most missed him was when we opened the door to come in, just as in the poem. We couldn't stand it and found Murphy. He can't replace Chico who entertained us and kept us company at home, on bicycles, motorcycles and when walking. The trailer was almost a dog house since that was one reason to have the trailer. Murphy was the best thing for us since he is still a puppy and keeps us busy and he does entertain us. We'll be thinking of you.

I don't know how dogs get so deep into our hearts but they do. Condolences Jim.
