I have had a bottle of it hanging around for a few years now. While I can handle a sip or two, I MUCH prefer a good pure whiskey. I will bring it to Winnipeg and donate it to you to help keep you warm and cosy on the rest of your journey.

Ah you're sweet. But I'm really not much of a hard alcohol drinker. Now... dark, craft beer that's another story. Actually, I'm moving (mostly) to drinking green tea. My life is turning into a bell curve!

I have been a water drinker mostly, with the occasional cup of tea. But in recent months I've been hitting some of the hard stuff..... you know, coffee.

Mike, you know what they say - 'a day without coffee is like...'

Just kidding, I have no idea.

Jon, have not had the pleasure of sipping Beaver Butt, but am well aquatinted with harvesting castoreum. A fellow who I know got an overture from the Drop Tine persimmon moonshine bottlers to sample and endorse their product. He had a tasting party and I had a few shots. It was not that tasty. Seemed to me like maybe the persimmons were not fully frost ripened. I’m not much on flavored alcohol probably owing to a negative experience with Sloe Gin about 50 years ago. I’ll stick with good Candians or Kentucky Bourbons. Some Tennessee or Iowa or Ohio whiskeys are excellent also. Try OYO Bourbon from Columbus Ohio. It’s a winner just like the Buckeyes.

I have drank a bunch of Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Milk Stout. Kinda like eating Reese's Pieces while drinking a stout. Not the best beer in the world, but a nice treat, kind of like a dessert beer.

At some point they should no longer be allowed to call it beer.

No doubt, though some folks out there put cream and sugar in coffee and still call it coffee, instead of what it is, a coffee flavoured drink.

Though, as long as you still enjoy it, it is all good.

I agree, totally. We have a surplus of new breweries around these parts, sadly, several of them seem to think that fruit, coffee, chocolate, etc belong in beer. one place, I don't think they have a single beer that is unadulterated (lavender lager? really? yuck). don't even get me started on sours.

and I love good craft ales and lagers... light, amber, brown, black... delicately hopped, or double IPA's so hoppy you're still tasting them 5 minutes after finishing the bottle. mild crisp pilseners, or stanky russian imperial stouts.

Had lunch at local pub the other day. Waitress inquired how our meal was.
"Too many adjectives", said I.

Guilty as charged; I can't tolerate it straight. I am just breaking in gradually with coffee-flavored hot water, sweetened and creamed.

A morning without coffee is.... serene. If I drank strong coffee, the caffeine would have me on a serious high!

My BIL offered me some Glenlivet last week. Now that is something I can appreciate neat. Just a little, mind you... for the flavor. My father once told me, "if you drink alcohol for the flavor then you don't need much, and if you drink for any reason other than the flavor, it's the wrong reason."

Absolutely, all you need is a wee sip to fill your mouth with that wonderful flavour. One of the reasons I like drinking whiskies, is I get to try a bunch in one night, each about 1/2 oz. I do like getting to the peaty ones. A wee sip of them sits on your palette for a long time. Heck, just sniffing them is often enough goodness.

Agreed. Unfortunately, my stomach can't handle black coffee these days, so mine is always adulterated with milk now.

As far as whiskey goes, I'll keep my Maker's Mark, or Woodford Reserve if I can afford it.

Have your tried Larceny whisky? It's a “wheated” Bourbon such as Maker’s Mark.
