A simple and easy answer for us ...

we love our escape, we love the community that this forum provides. I researched for 2+ years on what model and manufacturer to purchase.... lurking on this site easily sealed the deal.

Three topics I try on avoid: 1) politics, 2) religion, and 3) OPT - other peoples trailers. Just kidding about OPT but sometimes the discussions can get heated and out of control. Have found this forum to be very helpful and mild mannered. Nice place to relax, read and learn.

Great place to learn

I learned a lot about the Escapes before we bought and continue to learn about how to maintain them.
I really like seeing the cool mods that the very talented folks have done.

It is also a comfort to know that when something comes up we can ask a question here about how to deal with it and someone will probably have an answer.

I agree with others that the good natured posts are important. I have yet to see anyone here who doesn't have the best intentions.

It always amazes me what I pick up on threads with a title that has nothing to do with what I actually learn. You definitely have to skim every post, or you might miss that diamond of information.

I missed seeing this thread as we were gone on holidays at the time, and never fully caught up.

Why am I a regular on the forum?

Simple stated, I love learning and helping others.

As most know, I have been on this forum since its inception as I had ordered one of the yet to be built Escape 19s. This forum gave us a chance to discuss specific to Escape topics. Escape was just delving into the idea of doing custom mods for purchasers, and I encouraged Reace to do it.

I have learned a ton from others on this site, and continue to do so. It helped me with the many mods I did to my 19, as well as what I intend to do with my 5.0TA.

I really do enjoy helping others. It feels great to make someone else feel great.

Another plus that is not mentioned a lot, is the hundreds of people I have met in person from this site, quite a few who I now consider friends. I also enjoy the community spirit of this site, the fact that there is some personality here, which lends background to the members here, and a better understanding of where they are coming from. I like that the discussions here could take place just as easily around a campfire or a kitchen table. Sure there are the odd clashes of personality because of this (just as in real life), but this is a rarity.

I guess when you get to your age, the content of your fantasies changes.

Just glad I am not the subject of those other kind of fantasies.

2- I'm not angry and looking for a fight.
3- I'm not selling my old Casita.
I would say there is a heck of a lot of more to the FGRV site than that. There is a much larger membership, so you will get a higher percentage of problem folks.

One major thing that differs it is that there are a large number of people wanting to camp on a tighter budget, and not spend what those here do on their trailers. For some this is a choice, for others a reality in order to be able to RV at all. The biggest positive to this, is to show that camping is less about what you take with you, but more what you take away when you get there.

You are right Jim. Someone mentioned the other day, "The trailer is a tool, not a jewel".

Get out and use it! That's where the fun is.....

Well put Jim. My comment about FGRV was partly in jest. Totally agree about making friends here as well -- methinks that's even better than the tech help and ideas I've found here.

Long time lurker

Hi All~
I probably should be signing in on the "new intros", but have been lurking here maybe a couple years and drooling over the idea of owning an Escape so don't really feel like a legitimate newbie. Have been on FGRV for a while, but with work and goofy schedules, we haven't been camping much. But between the two forums have learned a lot and am very appreciative of all the information and help that's been available. We decided to sell the Scamp (thanks for the assist, Jim B.) and put our down payment on a 5.0TA! Got our build sheet almost finished with so much help from this forum (it's a daily read for me) Major Thanks to All!

Welcome to posting on the forum, Larry and Judy. Exciting times ahead.

Many folks just lurk to get information.

This is just a quick reply. Over the last 12+ months I have joined several users groups to help me decide what to buy. This included:
- Airstream
- Lance
- Fiberglass
- Escape

I did this to get a feeling regarding support, product, etc. and did not feel it my place intrude.

I'm happy say that today I put my order in for an Escape 19. So, in addition to "lurking" I may start to post more. But this site and people supporting were very instrumental to my decision.

Good choice twotwinpeaks, As you have learned, quality of build, customer support, and customer satisfaction are the most important factors. Plenty of that with Escape!
