Trying not to go there either, but can anybody explain why the national anthems are played at football, hockey, etc. games?

Better to shop around for best possible loan rate and terms, rather than simply be loyal to a company. "Business is business" from their perspective, so it might as well be your perspective as well.

As for borrowing, if I had to wait until I had enough cash to buy a trailer, I'd probably have to wait until I died so I could collect my own life insurance!

(I'm still working out the details on that...)

Try Bank of the West. When I used them 5-6 years ago they were fantastic.

Jerry, Ross is correct. I had the exact same thing happen - exactly. USAA approved the loan, then at the last minute called me and said they could not write the note because it was coming from Canada.

Miffed, I went with Essex Credit. They were a bit harder to work with than USAA, but their rate was quite a bit lower.

And as a side note, USAA will write an insurance policy on an Escape, but they won't lend on one. Makes no sense to me but what do I know.

My dad, USAF retired, bemoaned USAA 40 years ago for digressing from their original mission. Kinda like AT&T, which is actually SBC from Texas. What's up with those guys? Oh, right- they want to rule the world for their shareholders

We used Essex Credit for a boat loan. They were easier to work with than our Credit Union as boats, RVs, etc., seem to be one of their specialties. And you can get some free camping! https://www.essexcredit.com/koa/

I’m not sure about elsewhere, but I think Entertainment in the US approaches being some sort of core American value. In addition to sporting venues, if you go to the movies on any military base you’ll also get the national anthem first too, along with a roomful of people standing at attention. Entertainment is to America as hot dogs are to buns.

Slap on the mustard.

Many thanks! USAA is losing altitude in my opinion. They are not as customer service minded as they once were. Still OK for insurance, generally.

I recently made an appt with a financial adviser at USAA office in Phoenix. When I arrived at the gate for my appt I was detained and moved to the side. They called in backup and then I was approached and told they no longer meet face to face and appts are phone only. I was immediately escorted off the property. So think that pretty much sums up where they are at now. I’m a 40year Member as well so probably got extra special escort off the property.
I’d look at Essex as Robert did.

I fully agree with shopping around. When I bought my Tacoma, a near by credit union (that I was not a member of) offered 1.5% less than my own credit union. With my new F 150, my own credit union offered .5% less than the Tacoma CU.

By the way, when I bought my 17 (in 2011) my university based credit union had no problem with a Canadian purchase. Not sure they would do the same today - they have been "acquired" twice since then. When I bought my trailer I told the office staff I wanted a loan, they said OK & that was it. With the new truck purchase, they had me fill out a 4 page application along with an interview.
