19’ what’s under the bed

So we sold the 17B with long term plans of buying a 19 or 5.0. I want to do some other traveling before getting back to camping.

Question, what’s under the bed of the 19? Is there ext access hatches as standard equipment? Organization?? All open?? Can someone post up some pics of storage ideas!

We used this space as our pantry (among other things) and, when we traveled, I would pull out the bins so that they sat over the axles -- trying to even out the weight as we had canned food in there. Others have more unique setups including pull out drawers. I believe the exterior hatch is an option -- an option you DO want to have.

It is a queen sized storage area, minus the water heater. One exterior hatch is standard, 2nd is optional, probably the largest storage available in one place of all the Escapes.

We use the same clear bin technique under the bed in our 19. Works great and inexpensive.

We have 4 clear plastic bins under the bed that just slide back forth on the linoleum. I mean who cares if that linoleum gets scratched? Clothes in the 2 bins closest to the under bed doors, further back we have a bin with toilet paper and laundry stuff, the last bin is all our 1st aid stuff from our sailboat. Behind the water heater, near the license plate area we have 2 dive bags with flippers, goggles, wet suits etc. This is deep storage as you must crawl into this area, due to the license plate you cannot have a hatch here. By the standard opening hatch on the passenger side the folding chairs and tables go in. Currently, our microwave cabinet door is awaiting reattachment by Escape next week and it is stored under the chairs.

I have always placed pieces of 1/4" luan plywood underneath the bed to facilitate ease of sliding items underneath.

I just recently posted some photos specifically how I addressed this-may give you a few ideas.

I have one long wheeled bin (front wheels removed) on the left side. This is where the “seldom used” items are stored such as extra electrical cord, extra hose, tools, etc. On the right side are a 6 gallon water jug, 6 gallon gray water tank. These each have a parachute cord attached to pull them out without having to crawl under to get them. I also have a 100 watt solar panel suspended under the bed. And last, my camp chair. Next to the outside hatch are all my chocks, levelers and other set up gear (electric cord and hose) all in bins to keep the area clean. No storage box needed on my 19!

We store hoses and water stuff by the passenger side hatch. Tubs in sliding trays for low priority access stuff and dirty laundry. The back driver side corner is a PITA to get to. We keep emergency rations and a case of toilet paper stored there. Fortunately, our kids are young and small enough still that it’s fun for them to crawl into the “cave” if we need anything not on the sliding trays.

Lights under the bed are very useful.

Here's my under bed solution, including a solar panel storage spot. Simple wood track-rails for sliding. Good for the television stuff, sleeping bags, other bulky items.
(I really like those under bed lights.)

There is a stock access hatch on the passenger side but there is no room to install a hatch on the driver’s side with hot water heater and power cord inlet.

Thanks for the responses, I really wanted a 5.0 but am starting to lean towards the 19’

There is a lot of storage back there, I really like the light idea!

I’d prefer a 5.0 but went with a 19 because we can’t give up our truck bed storage for the hitch. 19 is great too, but wow, do the 5.0’s feel cavernous in comparison.

I used those felt stick on pads like for chair legs on the corners of under bed bins. They slide easier and no friction on linoleum.
