2019 Alaska trip with our 21’ Escape

An Unforgettable Adventure!

Finally got all the numbers down from our Alaska adventure!

- Traveled 16,000 miles from San Antonio, to Alaska and back

- In Canada, we traveled through 2 provinces ; Alberta, British Columbia and the Yukon Territory

- Crossed 11 states; Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Montana to Alaska

- Our Alaska Trip took 5 months, a total of 154 days.

Our 2017 21’ Escape performed like a true champ and handled the gravel roads and the frost heaves with ease. The key is to take your time. As an example, when traveling on the Dalton Highway north to Coldfoot, AK, we only averaged 17 mph.

I would not hesitate to take our Escape again. Kudos to ETI for making such a reliable product!

Regards,

Fred M.

Wow, that's doing it right.

I agree, an Escape really shines on those rough roads.

What's great about a long trip like that to a remote area is that there's very little backtracking on the same roads.

Yes, that is true. We basically drove a long loop!

Did you need to make reservations anywhere ahead of time?

The only reservations we made were at Denali National Park. Everywhere else, we called the same day. Having said that, July seemed to be the busiest month.

Wow, what a trip!

I would love to take a trip to Alaska one day. Ontario, north across the provinces, hit the casinos in Dawson City, around to Anchorage, back down to Haines and on the Ferry to Seattle, and then maybe down the west coast. Who knows, that's a few years away.

Ill have to take a look at the FB Group for some more pics.

Wow !!! What a fantastic trip. It is definitely on our bucket list but we have had a few doubts about the whole experience. Hearing and seeing your success we definitely have a new goal. I have a friend who did the trip with a Honda Pilot and a teardrop trailer so I guess anything is possible. I'm sure you have stories and experiences to last a lifetime.

What a great adventure, and a lifetime of memories made.
The FB pics were great to follow along with also.

We may be heading back to AK for a second time summer 2020, just to many things we missed the first time around, only 30 days in the state, not long enough.

For those with the bucket list.... here is a link to our album to really get you salivating https://www.flickr.com/photos/568443...57661434359175

Fred- About how many days did it take you to go from Montana to Alaska? I'm considering going up there after the Escape rally next year. Mmmaybe.

Yes, it is the Salmon Glacier. As you probably know, the photo does not do it justice.

Hola Mike,

We were in Montana around May 12th and entered Alaska at the northernmost border crossing into Alaska on June 13th, so it was about a month...BUT...
-we spent time near Coeur d’Alene, ID
-we stayed a week in Osoyoos
-we stayed a few days in Jasper NP
-we tootled along at a very slow pace

Your results may vary.
