5th wheel clearance over tailgate

Hello, will the 5th wheel really clear a tailgate that is 61" high? I have a 16 Ram 2500 crewcab 4x4 with full lenght bed that is really high (61 inches). I have been told by the manufacturer that it will. Would like real world experience. Thanks, Ken

Should not be a problem, when you receive your first build sheet, they ask for the vehicle information as well as the height of bed rail measured by you, this will be used to setup your 5.0TA for your tow vehicle on pickup day.

Mine works but with the Anderson my trailer will not go high enough to clear the ball of the hitch to hitch /unhitch so we put wood blocks under jack legs. Not a hard fix other wise works well no issues with the truck sides clearing or back window. and I can hitch up with the tail gate down- instead of dropping the tail gate backing in part way putting up the tail gait like some have to do.

51/2 or 61/2? Why are you using Anderson gooseneck? I am looking to buy Ram 2500 2 wheel drive with bed height of 58" unloaded. That is at the max height according to ETI.
My concern is after I have 5th wheel installed I may be to high.

mine is 5 &1/2 foot long and i use an Anderson goose neck. Seems to work but i put wooden blocks under the jacks to lift it to clear the hitch when hitching and unhitching. My truck side is 55 inch high unloaded and is 68"long.

I use the Anderson Jack Blocks. Kind of large but very handy as a step stool while I am setting up. I stand on them to hook/unhook the chains and emergency brake wire, then put them under the jacks. I often raise the trailer high enough that the Anderson Pin Adaptor will clear the tailgate. I also have some 3/8" thick rubber horse stall pads which I cut larger than the bottom of the Jack Block. The blocks will mush into them and level out a bit.

Tradmasters down the street from Escape. I got there a day before pick up so I could have the hitch installed. Tradmasters works with Escapes all the time so they could answer all my questions. I was very happy with their work. They also install a lot of Anderson hitches

True professionals! Anything hitch related, including after-market brake controllers. Make an appt. for the day before, or for smaller jobs the day of your orientation. They coordinate very well with ETI.

ETI put the Anderson adapter on the trailer during my orientation and made sure everything worked. It all went very smoothly. I was worried because some many little things can go wrong!

Yes many things could go wrong. Never purchased anything of this nature or amount of dollars site unseen. Have to travel 3000 miles to pick up trailer and it will be paid in full. I think all the time what the h... am I getting into.

actually all the time waiting is helpful i asked lots of questions on this forum, ETI, hitch installers, friends.... i think reading others concerns/suggestions help me think through many issues/ ideas and helped me avoid some problems. I am very happy with all my choices so far. And the process went smoothly. I spent way too much $ on Amazon!
